Description We are in search of an Accounting Assistant to join our client located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Accounting Assistant will be involved with comprehensive handling of accounts payable and receivable functions across our multiple office locations. The Accounting Assistant will be expected to demonstrate strong computer skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities: Ensure effective set up of project accounts as per project contract terms, maintain related files, and close projects upon completion. Efficiently process accounts payable invoices received and ensure timely payments. Oversee and maintain accounts payable files. Handle processing of employee expense reports and monthly corporate expenses. Prepare necessary project-related backup as required. Process cash receipts and match corresponding consultant invoices for payment. Handle incoming and outgoing mail for the accounting department. Enter payroll journal entries into the accounting system. Perform reconciliation of bank statements and AP statements of account. Assist with monthly billing invoices and tasks related to monthly, quarterly, and yearly analysis projects. Provide administrative support including answering phones or locking doors if needed. Undertake other miscellaneous office duties as required.Skills: Account Reconciliation Accounts Payable (AP) Accounts Receivable (AR) Billing Invoice ProcessingRequirements Applicant must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in an Accounting Specialist role or similar position Proficiency in Account Reconciliation is required Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is essential Familiarity with Billing procedures is expected Capability to efficiently handle Invoice Processing is necessary Proficiency in SAP or similar software is desirable A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work is required Excellent organizational and multitasking skills are expected Ability to work independently and as part of a team is necessary Strong verbal and written communication skills are desirable Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is preferred Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting is expected Understanding of laws and regulations related to accounting and financial reporting is required.
