Mechanical Applications Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

While working alongside a team of engineers you will provide optimal customer solutions for the steam generation industry. Solutions are uniquely designed, assembled, and tested per customer requirements. The Mechanical Applications Engineer is responsible for providing the best product and/or system solution for the customers' needs considering technical issues, budgets, and potential margin.

JOB FUNCTIONS (ESSENTIAL)
  • Consultatively select and develop product solutions to exceed customer expectations based on company capabilities.
  • Prepare detailed quotations and associated correspondence for systems, pumps, and parts based on technical specifications.
  • Follow up on complex orders to ensure accurate processing to factory.
  • Remotely assist customers with product fault isolation or proper setup/installation.
  • Works with application engineering team to develop custom solutions.
  • Enter and modify sales-related data (i.e. ordering processing, purchasing, customer backlog, cancellations) into our company's ERP system and support the engineering, operations, and supply chain teams throughout the order entry and manufacturing processes.
  • Keep up to date with new products and product opportunities through trade shows and voice of the customer.
  • Identify opportunities and implement solutions for continuous improvement of processes.
  • Prepare, generate and follow up on verbal or written quotations to secure orders or determine reason for loss of order.
  • Review open customer order reports and act on open items, specifically items that may be at risk in meeting the customer's promised delivery date.
  • Facilitate daily open order management to insure on-time delivery.
  • Communicate with various departments to troubleshoot, report, and track quality issues.
  • Review orders for accuracy and completion.
  • Address and resolve service concerns as they arise.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Education
o Bachelor's or Associates degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude and a growth mindset.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong technical knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Applicable understanding of fluid dynamics and heat transfer fundamentals.
  • Able to serve as a technical resource and provide perspective to internal and external customers.
  • Technical
  • The ability to read and interpret documents such as technical specifications, commercial terms, P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Intermediate understanding of machine design, electrical circuits, electrical panel design, and PLC's.
  • Basic understanding of fluid dynamics and heat transfer fundamentals.
  • Capable of gaining ERP system knowledge.
  • AutoCAD/Inventor experience (or similar CAD)
  • Programming experience/aptitude a plus
