Primary activities and decision-making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting clerical operations to a substantial degree. Administers, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs for all members of the CES clerical team including onboarding new staff. This includes development of materials and resources, identification of preceptors and coordination of interdisciplinary orientation experiences.

Analyze, compare, and evaluate various options for educational programs to ensure staff competency and compliance with Michigan Medicine requirements.

Monitor and evaluate the orientee's performance during the first 6 months of employment and provide remedial orientation/education as determined by ongoing feedback gathered from preceptors and charge clerks and direct observation

Provide weekly updates to the orientee during their probationary period regarding performance progress. Present remediation plans to CES Operations Director and/or Clerical Supervisor when performance is not meeting expectations.

Evaluate outcomes of training and improve/update content based on changing requirements, system updates, and employee feedback.

Identify staff readiness to serve as preceptor, train and monitor preceptor performance by direct observation, staff feedback and orientee progress.

Conduct needs assessments and collaborate with staff and leadership to assess and meet education requirements of the clerical team.

Plan, design, and coordinate in-services, workshops, formal classes, conferences and/or consultation services. Develop, maintain, and administer continuing education program for all clerical staff.

Maintain appropriate training articles on file and in current reference library.

Participate in interview and selection of new clerical team members in collaboration with Clerical Supervisor or designee.

Maintain required documentation of training activities and employee programs.

Perform as a role model in the provision of clerical services. Know and apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of the CES clerical team, staffing in CES a minimum of 16 hours per week.

Represent the CES Clerical team and all associated process and work flows as subject matter expert for internal and external groups and teams.

Serve as a resource for clerks, staff nurses, physicians, and other health care providers.

Provide for the safety of self and others by adherence to the hospital?s safety guidelines, policies, and practices.

Promote staff awareness and participation in quality improvement activities.

Collaborate with the ED leadership team to implement changes in practice, taking lead for development of resource documents and workflows for the clerical team as well as training plans and follow-up post change.

Initiate and/or participate in data collection and assist in analysis of quality improvement initiatives/PDCA.

Participate in continuous quality improvement by involvement in teams and by implementing changes recommended that impact the clerical team.

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree in healthcare, education, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Two years' experience in a customer service-oriented position, one year of progressive responsibilities as an ED PSA, one year of progressive responsibilities as an ED PSI

Solid or exemplary performance in all duties and responsibilities as outlined in the ED PSA and PSI position summary

Evidence of demonstrated leadership ability, including team leader, supervisor, or other leadership experience.

Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, coaching and mentoring.

Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate in a manner that fosters teambuilding with all levels of staff and management, both internal and external to the department. Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.

Demonstrated organizational skills, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, managing multiple tasks and projects, and thinking independently.

Demonstrated ability to promote professional working relationships.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in healthcare, education, or related field.

Experience developing staff education programs and materials.
