Socotra Coffee House is a vibrant gem in Ann Arbor's bustling coffee scene, renowned for our authentic Yemeni coffee and pastries. We are a community hub dedicated to sharing the rich tradition of Yemeni coffee culture, featuring specialty drinks and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. We are currently seeking an experienced, passionate, and dynamic Coffee House Manager to lead our team and uphold our commitment to quality and service.

Key Responsibilities

The Manager will be responsible for all daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer experience, and driving business growth. This includes:

Team Leadership: Hiring, training, scheduling, and managing all staff (baristas, kitchen assistants) to ensure high performance and a positive, collaborative work environment.

Operational Excellence: Overseeing all day-to-day operations, including opening/closing procedures, inventory management, supply ordering, and cash handling.

Customer Service: Maintaining the highest standards of customer service, resolving customer issues, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.

Quality Control: Ensuring the consistent preparation of all coffee, espresso drinks, and food items to Socotra’s quality specifications, with a focus on our unique Yemeni offerings.

Financial Management: Managing labor costs, minimizing waste, and working with ownership to achieve sales and profit goals.

Compliance: Ensuring the store operates in full compliance with all health, safety, and local regulations.

Community Engagement: Promoting the unique culture of Socotra Coffee House and engaging with the local Ann Arbor community.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in a supervisory or management role within the food service, hospitality, or retail industry, preferably in a specialty coffee environment.

Strong knowledge of coffee preparation, espresso equipment maintenance, and quality control. Experience with Yemeni or other unique coffee styles is a plus.

Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with POS systems and basic administrative tasks (scheduling, inventory).

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
