Contract – Potential for contract to hire

Onsite – Grand Rapids, MI Clover Consulting has a large client in Grand Rapids in need of a

Communications Specialist. This contract position

begins at 20 hours per week but can increase to 40 hours per week based on the candidate's capacity, ramp-up speed and output quality. Additionally, there is a

possibility of contract to hire. The role will begin on-site at the Grand Rapids location,

possibly moving to hybrid based on the candidate's ability and speed to learn the role and execute at a highly productive level. The contract will be reviewed six months from the start date, and continuing or concluding will be determined at that time. All candidates will have a portfolio of professional work demonstrating their competency and experience as required below.

Position Summary

The Communication Specialist will split their time between two primary tactical areas of the business:1.) Administering and maintaining several departmental communication and management systems.2.) Writing/proofing copy and producing PowerPoint presentations. Equally important to the role but secondary to the primary focus areas are video and podcast editing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain departmental communication and management systems, including:
  • Culling, uploading, auditing, refreshing and organizing Operation's site content
  • Create/support a "pull" system for regional/global content; manage the health of the Case TV global system
  • Review vendor hours at the close of projects,

    determine cost center, open POs, approve invoicing, close projects
  • Maintain department Lean Management System in

    SmartSheets, including intake of project requests, managing metrics, open/close projects, continuously improving the system
  • Lead Spark projects such as the annual audit of the Operations Overview PowerPoint presentation and other large update projects
  • Write and proof copy
  • Manage story calendar, solicit stories, review, revise and proof articles, email reminders/instructions for authors to post, and maintain the distribution list.
  • Writing and proofing of organizational announcements
  • General proofing and revising as needed
  • Produce, refine and proof PowerPoint presentations
  • Moderate content creation and design/layout production
  • Write, proof and improve leader and event PowerPoint presentations
  • Migrate presentations to new brand expression as needed
  • Video and podcast editing
  • Edit videos using Play Play platform; depending on skill level, this could also include producing, ideation and script writing
  • Edit podcasts, including final file creation, uploading to the asset management system, creation of Spark space and blogging/launch; depending on skill level, this could also include recording sessions, ideation and producing
  • Departmental support
  • Manage simple communications projects
  • and answer service and support questions coming into Operations Communications

Qualities, qualifications and experience
  • 4-year degree in Communications or a related field is preferred, not required
  • 3-5 years working in corporate communications
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to initiate, prioritize, follow through and work independently
  • Professional and technical writing skills
  • Highly competent with technology and eager to learn more
  • Strong ability to strike a balance between the management side and the creative side of project execution
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Advanced skills in

    Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Web site building skills and experience, a plus
  • Moderate to advanced skills in

    Smartsheets, a plus
  • Experience in

    editing video and audio projects, a plus
  • Moderate to advanced skills in

    Adobe Creative Suite, including Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premier, a plus
  • Understands and practices critical thinking
