Role Summary: Product Owner for ICE vehicles is the "one face to the internal customer" and responsible for managing the end-to-end Plan-Build-Run implementation of an approved program. This includes the fulfillment of timeline milestones for technical and financial decision. The ICE Product Owner is the expert on how ICE Connectivity features work for each new vehicle platform as well as a deep understanding of the Connectivity platform (Device and Service Platform, FS Pay / eStore/ data collection, developer platform) and interaction with the vehicle. This position is critical to ensure NAR technical requirements are inputted in the early plan phase and ensures proper vetting through local and Global channels for scoping, planning and approval. The ICE Product Owner will manage the Product Lifecycle and steer the technical implementation of new features and functions through Plan-Build-Run until the end of production. This role is also responsible for coordinating the related HW/SW to verify feasibility of a function starting with the proof of concept, validation and testing.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Overarching End-to-End responsibilities for Plan-Build-Run- 30%
    • Accountable for the successful launch of Connected Services for a ICE vehicle program
    • Ensure the alignment within the region, technical department in Germany and partners worldwide concerning e.g. delta technical product description TPB NAR related to Connected Service SW development roadmap and PI planning
    • Build relationships with key stakeholders and other influencers (internal, external and in Germany) who contribute to the definition and ongoing support of Connected Services including the software and backend platform for delivering features and functions
    • Coordinate new ecosystem partners by engaging Connected Services Content Development Manager in identifying new technical partners and initialize sustainable collaborations
    • Lead end-to-end product delivery including solutions integration, feature integration and change requests
    • Responsible to oversee technology scope, timing, costs and quality for the projects and initiate corrective measure as necessary.
    • Identify all associated costs for implementation of function and ensure it is funded (B2B, B2C, priced with vehicle)
    • Ensure Legal, Security Compliance, SIM Connectivity, SW release versions, Service and Device Platform requirements are evaluated and accounted for in the overall program
  • Plan Phase: Ensure NAR concepts are captured - 15%
    • Lead concept definition, technical feasibility, and champion through cross functional and global teams for feedback, input and approvals
    • Responsible for steering the NAR ICE product requirements into the proper channels locally and globally for proper vetting
    • Active concept alignment with Infotainment System TPBs
  • Build Phase: Ensure local standard implementation - 15%
    • Alignment with EPC Project Managers project statuses
    • Monitors technical decisions which have been made through the entire change process from change request creation through development change process and ultimately through project acceptance drives
    • Ensure development requirements are understood by local partners
    • Work closely and support VW development teams throughout the sprint lifecycle, answer questions, prioritize deliverables and facilitate reviews
    • Ensure validation testing and support is aligned with Program Timeline
    • Coordinate internally to ensure quality testing, validation of test cases and acceptance criteria is completed for sign off by all stakeholders.
  • Run Phase: Ensure field support and Quality - 15%
    • Ensure proper engagement of field support and Root Cause Analysis of Issues by engaging the Connected Services Quality Manager
    • Ensure proper engagement of Tech support / warranty claim support and Operational Support by engaging Connected Services Operations Manager validate product is successful in the field.
  • Manage Program Timeline and Product Deliverables 25%
    • Responsible to fulfill timeline milestones for technical and financial decisions
    • Manage all stakeholders to ensure PI Planning and timelines align with Program SOP
    • Ensure accurate timelines, schedules and development plans are documented and updated as necessary.
    • Communicate to all stakeholders for visibility of Program timeline/status. Ensure updates are also communicated.
    • Actively manage priorities to mitigate risks and roadblocks to ensure completed of feature release.

Qualifications:

Years of Experience:
  • 10+ years Technical Product Management experience
  • >3 years Systems/Software Engineering
  • Automotive experience required

Education - Required:
  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent

Education - Desired:
  • Masters in engineering , Computer Information Technology or equivalent.

  • 2 years of experience as a product owner in the connectivity, infotainment or ADAS domains

Required:
  • Technical deep background in automotive engineering and electrification

  • Understanding of vehicle development processes, ideally Volkswagen processes
