Position DescriptionThe Cyber Security Technology Engineer position at Ally is a member of the Information Protection and Risk Management (IPRM) team and reports to a Manager of Cyber Security Technology. The Engineer works with a team to design and implement technical controls and tools to meet specific security requirements and defines processes and standards to ensure that security configurations and tools are maintained.

Job ResponsibilitiesThe Cyber Security Technology (CST) engineer will support engineering solutions for the Ally Data Loss Prevention (DLP) infrastructure. Under direction from the Manager and in line with stated strategic objectives, the CST DLP Engineer will work with other engineers to successfully engineer and implement projects on time and on budget. The engineer will also be responsible for ongoing incremental engineering required to continuously achieve the best coverage and operation of the technology, and will assist in troubleshooting system degradations and outages if required. Some (but not all) of the primary responsibilities the role will be primarily involved with are as follows:
  • Provide technical assistance and hands on development support for security controls for a Data Security program
  • Administration of the enterprise DLP infrastructures (e.g. maintenance, configuration, and policy management)
  • Identification and resolution of incidents impacting the DLP system or related components
  • Provide technical assistance and hands on development support for security controls for an enterprise DLP program
  • Experience working with DLP technologies, including a technical understanding of how data in motion, data at rest, and data in use is monitored
  • Build information security polices based on predefined compliance obligations
  • Support various teams in understanding incident alerts from DLP tools and offer guidance
  • Assist with efforts to improve automation and response activities regarding data security related incidents
  • Support and assist the security and risk teams with security incidents, and to design new policies to identify and mitigate risk
  • Participate in developing and providing operational documentation to ensure a well-managed and mature security infrastructure
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Mandatory Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years of previous DLP experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of securing data across several cloud deployment models (Public, Private, Hybrid).
  • Understanding of DLP – specifically email, endpoint and network based DLP
  • Outstanding problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and experience creating and maintaining policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documents
  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintaining Cloud DLP rules and policies.
  • Cross-functional understanding of security operations, security practices and the user experience
  • Develop project documentation including detailed security plans, security architecture designs, detailed security implementation and deployment plans, test plans, and security-focused operational procedures and training materials
  • Must be willing to work after-hours and weekends when technical issues arise which require immediate resolution.
