Datacenter Storage & Protection Engineer

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Datacenter Storage & Protection Engineer for a FULL TIME assignment with one of our premier clients in Southfield, MI. On the Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the management of storage to include the management, configuration and maintenance of the storage and datacenter infrastructure. This position will also serve as a primary resource for litigation and eDiscovery storage support. Responsibilities :

• Perform daily storage administration by ensuring a stable support of enterprise servers, disk-based storage appliances, tape libraries, as well as VMware ESXi environments, including maintenance and trend analysis of the storage and backup infrastructure primarily protected by Commvault data protection software.
• Provide day-to-day technical, administrative, and functional support for the various infrastructure systems.
• Act as a point of contact to analyze and resolve reported technical issues and/or performance issues with the various data center storage hardware and backup platforms.
• Administer block and file storage and data replication across multiple datacenters.
• Maintain and support a multisite cloud and datacenter storage and backup environment.
• Create documentation and guide tier 1 resources on the day-to-day monitoring of storage systems and other relevant devices as well as proper change management documentation for all hardware and software modifications.
• Participate in the creation (or modification) of documentation activities related to system configuration, policies, and procedures, including the overall structure and standards for documentation.
• Conduct routine audits of storage infrastructure to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, procedures, and requirements
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, development, exercises, compliance and respond to actual events
• Evaluate and test software changes and updates supplied by vendors, prior to installation
• Provide 24/7 support in the event of scheduled/unscheduled downtime and participate in a rotational on-call schedule (on-call 4 times a year, once every quarter)
• Acquire knowledge, via both formal and on-the-job training of the various 3rd party packaged software applications and custom solutions used to provide monitoring, management, and reporting

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in providing direct, hands-on support of backup / data protection, storage / data replication systems
• Experience in large, production-oriented service operations, with experience in a 24x7x365 service delivery model supporting mission-critical business operations with large data volumes highly preferred
• Experience supporting Windows servers and server virtualization
• Experience supporting Pure Storage, EMC Isilon, EMC Unity and Data Domain a plus
• Customer service oriented and ability to interact with clients, staff, and management team at all levels
• Capacity to successfully manage simultaneous requests from start to finish
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to lift devices weighing up to 50 pounds
