SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Software Applications Developer is a hands-on, technically involved position that will create, deploy and maintain applications per the business needs. The Software Applications Developer will act as a support person on occasion, helping to analyze root cause of an issue and ultimately address the issue.

The Software Applications Developer reports to the IT Director and works closely with other IT staff and the business intelligence team to deliver business tools.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Develop both front-end/back-end applications using software tools such as Mendix, Talend, Microsoft SQL/SSMS/SSRS, C# or other object-oriented programming language, etc. to support, enhance and improve Orchid business processes. Examples projects: Develop an app to collect custom user-input data to populate an Azure data warehouse. Design schema for a relational database and create ETL jobs to store app-generated data. Create API calls to Integrate on-premises applications with 3rd party applications (on-premises or cloud).
  • Manage software development using Agile principles and tools such as Jira and Github
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal stakeholders throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from requirement analysis thru deployment
  • Produce clean, efficient code using best practices
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade custom applications as necessary
  • Document code as appropriate
  • Document and/or provide training on apps to the level that a business owner could train the rest of the organization
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner, notifying project leads in advance of potential slippages of dates
  • Validate apps are working as intended prior to releasing to the business for use
  • Resolve user support issues for custom apps via Orchid's ticketing system
  • Stay informed on software technology trends and provide recommendations for future actions
  • Serve as a technology liaison and provide expert evaluation regarding potential external software application purchases
  • Travel occasionally to all Orchid locations as necessary and work outside of regular hours as required.
  • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Participate in after-hours support for the production environment, including on-call support. This will include supporting upgrades or troubleshooting activities that must take place outside business hours.
  • Maintain and review security policies.

WORK EXPERIENCE2+ Years of Experience in Software Development (Required), 2+ Years of Experience Working with Relational Databases and ETL Processes (Required), Experience using ERP software, Experience with SaaS systems such as: Salesforce, WorkDay, OneStream, EtQ, QMS, or ComplianceWIre
