Director, Strategic Initiatives

Position Summary:The Director of Strategic Initiatives will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will lead development and execution of key strategy projects across the enterprise, including the expansion of the TriMas Center of Excellence and Shared Service Centers in India and Mexico and the design, documentation and implementation of key business processes as part of TriMas’ multi-year ERP implementation. This position will work closely with group leadership and the General Manager of TriMas’ Center of Excellence to support finance, IT, product development, and design engineering across the organization, as well as work closely with TriMas’ Chief Information Officer in support of the multi-year ERP implementation process.As Director of Strategic Initiatives, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the operations and performance of our Shared Service Center(s), ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to internal stakeholders of the consolidated support functions. The Shared Service Center includes functions in finance and accounting, information technology, business development support, design engineering, and other front and back-office services. The position is responsible for advising and implementing internal services and process improvement strategies in shared services with exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of optimizing processes and driving efficiency.The role will also require experience in gathering and understanding business requirements in support of ERP design. As a key member of the TriMas’ ERP implementation team, you will be responsible for liaising with functional leaders, understanding their needs, and translating those needs into functional specifications for our ERP solution.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Company’s Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate shall lead and manage the Shared Service Center(s) in alignment with TriMas’ goals and objectives, championing the vision of offshoring shared services work-share activities and tasks.

Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the TriMas’ Shared Service Center(s) aligned with the overall business objectives of the organization.

Provide strong and effective leadership to the shared services team, fostering a culture of collaboration, trust, innovation, and continuous improvement, with both direct and dotted line reports.

Recruit, develop, and retain top talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the Shared Service Center(s).

Oversee resource allocation, including staffing levels, skills development, and performance management within the Shared Service Center(s).

Serve as the functional leader responsible for process mapping within TriMas on the multi-year ERP implementation, starting with TriMas Packaging.

Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment between business requirements and technical solutions.

Lead the translation of business requirements into detailed functional specifications, including process flows and process policies.

Lead internal TriMas teams in the identification of opportunities for process improvement and optimization within the TriMas ERP system.

Lead other strategic initiatives as they arise across the TriMas group of companies.

Support any other special projects as directed by the Chief Financial Officer.

Travel approximately 50% of the time to support shared service teams and ERP implementation.
