Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is looking for a Team Leader, Environmental Chemist for the Milwaukee, WI, or other Midwest offices in Chicago IL and Novi, MI. The position can be a hybrid of remote and onsite. The selected candidate will be tasked with providing technical expertise and specialized consulting advice in Environmental Analytical Chemistry. The candidate will also be a project chemist on CERCLA federal remediation projects responsible for managing the environmental chemistry aspects of these project. The Chemist's primary role will be to validate analytical data, write data validation reports, and help prepare Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) and laboratory coordination of Federal Remediation projectsThe Chemist will assist proposal teams with selection of analytical methodology and associated pricing, evaluate laboratory proposals, and establish QA/QC parameters. They will work with laboratories to ensure data meets technical requirements and project data quality objectives. Strong interpersonal and technical writing skills are critical, as is the ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently. The selected candidate must be well organized, can manage and prioritize assignments and staff, and deliver on time and on budget.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Perform Data validation of for multi-media environmental data

Assist with laboratory evaluation, selection, and coordination.

Prepare project work plans, specifically sampling and analysis and UFP-QAPPs

Coordinate with field teams before and during sampling events conducted under CERCLA (site investigations, remedial investigations).

Coordinate with the database team to ensure that the correct EDDs are considered to meet both AECOM requirements, the statement of work, and are useable for final upload to whatever database may be needed.

Peer review/senior review of data validation reports and other project documents to ensure accuracy and consistency with project requirements.

Summarize analytical data quality in Data Usability Assessments (DUAs) at the conclusion of the project.

Provide guidance to the team.

Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with minimal supervision.

Coordinate with the Project Team on a regular basis for federal remedial projects under CERCLA

Ensure project- and QAPP-specific data requirements are met

Coordination of analytical services with laboratories

Ensure project-specific data requirements are met

Support field efforts by preparing sampling plans and field documentation

Manage data flow from the laboratory to final reporting

Research environmental laboratory practices and methodologies

Prepare proposals, procures, and oversee laboratory services and invoice approvals

Conduct field and laboratory technical system audits

Prepare technical reports and papers

Coordinate with end user to define data quality requirements and to help assure that data are usable and meet end-use objectives

Setting up lab contracts

Reporting and coordinating the proper deliverables including EQuIS EDDs

QualificationsMinimum Requirements

BA/BS in chemistry or related field +4 years of experience or demonstrated relevant equivalency of experience and/or education

Must possess a valid US driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience writing CERCLA Sampling and Analysis Plans and UFP QAPPs for EPA and DoD clients

Knowledge of chemistry principles

Familiarity with USEPA analytical methods

Experience working on Superfund Site projects for federal clients (EPA, USACE)

Working knowledge of instrumentation used for environmental analysis (i.e. GC/MS, ICP, GC-ECD, IC, etc.)

Proficient in standard office computer applications and software, to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access

Position requires analytical and interpersonal skills, and solid planning and organizational skills

Experience with validation of PFAS or dioxin/furan data

Familiarity with EPA National Functional Guidelines for Data Review

Experience with EPA FASTAC process and EPA SCRIBE

Knowledge of the principles and standards of scientific study, field investigations under CERCLA, sampling, experimentation, quality assurance of chemical measurements, research, and documentation

Understanding of the Department of Defense (DoD) Quality Systems Manual and the ability to interpret analytical data packages for compliance with analytical protocols and quality assurance project plans is desired

Ability to obtain 40 hour HAZWOPER training

Required to intermittently drive company or rental vehicles for work

Master’s degree in Chemistry or other related field

Prior experience in laboratory or environmental chemistry

General experience with EQuIS or other environmental data management software; including loading EDDs, setting up new sites, creating automated reports, using Sample Planning module, setting up EQuIS Collect, setting up EQuIS enterprise dashboards
