Position Summary:The Extension Master Gardener (EMG) volunteer coordinator position will provide support to the Extension Master Gardeners across Wayne County and the Consumer Horticulture Educator. Responsibilities will include communication with EMGs, customer service, assisting with the Volunteer Selection Process, and other technical support functions.This position will provide support for Extension Master Gardener volunteers and assist the Consumer Horticulture Educator in completing program requirements.Characteristic Duties/Responsibilities:The coordinator will communicate extensively with volunteers, assist with screening prospective volunteers, enter data into software, and advise volunteers in program policies.Ten hours per week are expected for this role, and some of the duties may be performed remotely. Occasional evening or weekend hours could be required to facilitate programming in Wayne County.Position Term: On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.Desired Qualifications

Attention to detail and ability to learn online volunteer management software database.

Comfortable communicating with volunteers over the phone, in person, and in front of groups.

Knowledge of, experience of, or desire to learn about, vegetable and flower gardening.

Understanding of and ability to implement Civil Rights principles and compliance standards.

Ability to lift and carry educational materials, equipment, etc. up to 25 lbs.

Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge, and use of appropriate approaches, skills and techniques, which reflect an understanding and awareness of social, cultural and economic diversity of the target population served.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Proficiency in use of technology (e.g., web research, Zoom, Qualtrics, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook for mail/calendaring, distance technology, etc.).

Other skills and/or physical abilities required to perform duties of the position.
