Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Grant Accountant in WEST BLOOMFIELD, Michigan. The successful candidate will be a key part of our financial management team, focusing primarily on managing our grant processes. This role involves recording financial activity, preparing and submitting financial reports, and ensuring expenditure compliance. Responsibilities: Conduct regular account analysis and reconciliation to ensure accurate balances and compliance with established accounting practices Ensure efficient recording, reconciliation, and monthly financial reporting of grants Monitor and reconcile incoming wire payments related to each grant, and forecast cash flow needs Assist in the development of the annual operating budget for assigned grants Ensure compliance with GAAP, ASC guidance, and the Sarbanes Oxley Act Support agency operations by completing required trainings and providing coverage for other accounting staff as needed Prepare, verify, and balance audit work papers as assigned to comply with agency’s required financial audit Follow established policies around segregation of duties and other financial controls Perform other duties as assigned by management Develop and implement policies and procedures to periodically identify weaknesses in financial controls Requirements Proficiency in using Abila MIP and other Accounting Software Systems Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services, Banner Ads, and Bloomberg Terminal Demonstrated ability in performing Accounting Functions Previous experience in Auditing Knowledge of Budget Processes and Capital Management Ability to handle Cash Activity Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field (preferred) Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to accounting and taxation.
