JD: Job Title: Mid Level HIL Systems Integration Engineer

The HIL Systems Integration Engineer is responsible for delivering a stable and representative test environment to perform automated testing and functional integration of distributed features.• Main interface between test design and test environment roles to identify system boundaries and define requirements for simulator I/O, instrumentation and automation solutions• Leads tradeoff analysis of test requirements vs test environment capabilities to define test scope and instrumentation strategies• Collaborates with core engineers, suppliers, feature experts and test environment engineers to design and implement new instrumentation and automation solutions and troubleshoot existing ones• Reviews vehicle components electrical schematics and functional specifications to define instrumentation, interface points and automation solutions• Translates functional requirements from test design engineers into hardware and signal requirements for implementation in the test environment• Validates and troubleshoots simulator and automation solutions implementation• Troubleshoots vehicle systems and test environment functionality to minimize false positive incident reports• Designs vehicle variant management solutions and contributes in the design of automation solutions• Leads continuous process improvements to expand automated testing scope, improve reliability and optimize executionRequired Experience and Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science• Proficiency in the understanding of embedded controller networks (CAN, LIN) and the use of ECU diagnostic and network communication tools to verify and troubleshoot distributed systems (e.g. CANoe, CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy)• Proficiency in understanding electrical architectures of distributed systems and electrical schematics for vehicle components and systems.• Proficiency in understanding electrical and functional specifications of embedded controllers, wiring, switches, sensors and actuators.• 2+ years of experience in bench testing of distributed electrical systems (Electrical System Engineering) including bench functional integration, test execution, measuring and instrumentation, incident reporting and root cause analysis.• 2+ years of experience in development and execution of functional test procedures for distributed electrical systems• 3+ years of testing experience using Hardware in the Loop equipment and software (e.g. dSpace, National Instruments)Preferred Qualifications• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science• Familiarity with development and verification of plant and control models in Matlab/Simulink for execution in hardware in the loop test environments• Experience with dSpace hardware architecture, design, setup and troubleshooting• Experience with dSpace control desk and automation deskSkillsRequired Skills• Effective communication:Clear and concise spoken and written communication skills are critical for this position since the engineer is responsible for gathering engineering requirements, negotiating during tradeoff analysis and documenting testing solutions.• Project management skills, well organized and able to manage multiple tasks:The engineer needs to work on multiple interrelated projects but with different and sometimes conflicting requirements.• Interpersonal skills (Networking, Negotiation and Tolerance):Required to work with cross functional, multiregional internal and external teams that can have different priorities.• Ability to manage urgent situations and follow priorities.• Tolerance to ambiguity and dealing with complex engineering problems.

This contractor must work onsite in Allen Park, MI from day 1 of assignment. No exceptions. No temporary remote work.
