AECOM is seeking a self-motivated Geologist/Hydrogeologist III in our Grand Rapids, MI office to assist with a variety of projects including task and data management, site investigations and remediation. The successful candidate will assist with coordinating the gathering and analyzing of geological, hydrogeological and geochemical data, primarily in an office setting. The office activities will involve preparation of investigation work plans and reports, management of data, task managing numerous tasks, and supporting project managers with office related tasks. Familiarity with Michigan Part 201/213 requirements are preferred.  Field activities may consist of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air and soil vapor sample collection, geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies. Flexibility to work on a multitude of different projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Fully qualified scientist. Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.Requires general familiarity within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields.Familiarity with Michigan Part 201/213 requirements.Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.Solves problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.Participates in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives.Conducts analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources.Performs inspections and tests to ensure compliance.Participates in developing corrective measures and procedures. Formulates hypothesis, performs research and makes recommendation.
