- Provides a secure, compliant, robust, reliable, scalable, and efficient infrastructure and directs infrastructure support strategy and operations.
- Manages activities related to keeping the infrastructure performing optimally including backing up the systems, performance tuning, installing operating system upgrades and patches, and implementing security and virus protection.
- Manages internet infrastructures including management of firewalls to provide Internet connectivity for company functions.
- Plan, implement, and support the wide area and local data networks, including proactive network management and problem resolution.
- Responsible for the administration and best practices for VMWare server environment.
- Supervise IT system administration for enterprise email, file system storage and collaboration systems.
- Oversee the security of operations including intrusion, detection, and prevention solutions.
- Oversees the day-today support of all production platforms to ensure the high availability, integrity, and confidentiality of the network, servers, storage, telecommunication services and information.
- Improve, tune, and expand all system as growth demands. Ensures infrastructure installations go smoothly, as well as software and hardware upgrades.
- Maintain a disaster recovery plan for IT operations and production systems and coordinate responses to emergency production issues; resolve conflicting demands from users for service
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network resource administration.
- Lead the process of establishing project scopes, cost benefit analysis, building a project plan and managing the project from cradle to grave.
- Provide leadership and direction through developed short and long-range technology plans. Review and update annual and multi-year plans to assure their implementation and continued maintenance.
- Manage network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, life cycle management and related documentation.
- Ensure maximum accountability and accuracy for management of technology assets, vendors, software licensing, and hardware support.
- Provide data driven periodic reports of enterprise technology and support activities as required to achieve and maintain performance measures.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of technical solutions, support standards business continuity, and disaster recovery.
- Partner closely with other department managers to ensure proactive planning, smooth deployment and excellent on-going support for their services and applications.
- Provide outage and crisis leadership with crisp, clear communication to stakeholders, vendors, and executive management.
- Effectively market IT services, promote technology initiatives, and advocate strongly for project benefits.
- Interface with business unit managers/department heads to define infrastructure support initiatives and solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness.
- Be a visible leader in organization change management for IT related initiatives.
- Provide technical input and recommendations for contracts, software and related goods and services needed for technology areas. Negotiate with and direct vendors and contractors, including contract management.
- Participate in the planning, develop of the department budgets, and provide data for cost allocation.
- Select, supervise, coach, and evaluate assigned staff. Establish work rules and performance standards, conduct an oversee performance evaluations and initiate and implement disciplinary actions as needed. Provide for the training and motivation of subordinates to make full use of individual capabilities and to meet changing system demands.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT field with at least 8 years of experience
- At least 3 years of prior managerial experience
- Proven and recent hands-on experience in roles such as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, Network engineer or similar
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to employees with a variety of skill sets, including executive leadership
- Exceptional customer service is key to the success of this role
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to create written process and procedures as well as technical documentation
- Understanding of information systems in privacy and security issues, including standard practices for protecting systems
- Prior experience with Sarbanes Oxley compliance is a plus
- Ability to travel within the US, Canada, and Mexico
