This open Programmer Analyst position that Robert Half is looking to fill is ideal for someone with a mastery of software and applications programming and industry requirements who can apply that knowledge to establish and define systems scope and objectives. You would provide guidance on developing or altering applications or databases, employing research and fact-finding techniques. This short-term contract / temporary Programmer Analyst opportunity is found in Lansing, Michigan.

How you will make an impact

- Helps create communication content for certain system changes being implemented in production

- Analyzes user requests for systems changes or improvements. Documents functional requirements and assesses cost, feasibility and utility. Develops recommendation as to how, when or whether to proceed with making the changes

- Assesses processing systems. Builds improvement recommendations

- Provides end users and other partner groups with continuing training and assistance for a specific application, system or process

- Build and assess programming changes for every phase of systems development prior to implementation. Record test cases and expected results. Ensure results meet requirements. May develop basic tests or a defined subset of a larger system test. May make suggestions regarding acceptance/rejection if not all requirements are met

- Builds and maintains dictionaries for applications and systems support by the analyst

- Analyzes and records issues, collaborating with other programmers to fix code problems

- Provides guidance for internal clients on applications, systems and/or processes for identifying and resolving, processing/reporting problems with programming. Consultation can include troubleshooting and/or education

Requirements

- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing

- Previous experience as a project leader for the business portion of developmental applications or major systems improvements

- Knowledge of PC and mainframe hardware/software

- Comprehensive understanding of programming languages

- navigating basic office equipment and protocols experience

- Proven success acting in a project management capacity
