Description We are in search of a Loan Processor - Support to join our team in the Credit Union industry, based in Troy, Michigan, United States. This role offers a long term contract employment opportunity, providing a critical function in processing and managing real estate lending applications. Responsibilities: Order and audit necessary documents such as title reports, appraisals, alternative valuation method (AVM), flood certifications, homeowners insurance, and other required documents to complete home equity loan applications. Prepare member-specific disclosures in compliance with federal laws and regulations. Review documentation to ensure it corresponds with home equity loan application, verify the accuracy of information, and follow up with members as needed. Respond to inquiries regarding loan status from borrowers, retail team, and vendors to expedite the loan application process. Submit home equity loan applications to underwriting and coordinate closings with all necessary parties. Finalize pre-closing requirements ensuring all processing tasks are completed. Obtain payoffs and releases from borrower or other lien holders, updating member home equity applications as necessary. Accurately maintain the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) log for newly originated loans and annual reporting purposes. Assist with first mortgage files by reviewing application to ensure compliance with disclosure requirements and verifying applicant information including employment, salary, assets, and liabilities. Requirements Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in the loan processing field within a credit union or related financial institution. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in appraisals, closing processes, and mortgage application procedures. Familiarity with mortgage banking, mortgage documents, and mortgage financing - lending is essential. Proficiency in understanding and navigating the mortgage industry and mortgage lending practices. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders, including loan officers, underwriters, and borrowers. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple loans and deadlines simultaneously. Proficiency in using loan origination software and other computer applications related to the job. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling and processing loan documentation. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to credit union's policies and regulatory standards. Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide support and guidance to borrowers throughout the loan process.
