Job Description

General Purpose of Job:

This position is responsible for the maintenance of the warehouse, performing a variety of technical activities necessary to provide safe and effective durable medical equipment. This position also maintains equipment service and preventative maintenance logs. This position will also help service technicians when needed with the prompt delivery of medical equipment, supplies and related services to customers and clients of Sparrow Medical Supply.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

Organizes daily delivery routes for Service Technicians to ensure most efficient delivery of product.

Maintains warehouse by cleaning equipment and restocking shelves.

Maintains adequate amounts of oxygen in the warehouse to meet daily delivery schedule.

Performs operational checks and routine and emergency preventative maintenance and repairs including manual wheelchairs and scooters according to manufacturer’s specifications.

Documents maintenance and repairs in equipment service/preventative maintenance logs.

Assists and trains other Service Technicians on technical functions of equipment.

Assists Service Technicians and customers with equipment questions and maintenance issues; troubleshoots equipment.

Coordinates equipment returns to manufacturer or other destination for preventive maintenance or as needed.

Responsible for cycle counts of warehouse and yearly physical inventory.

Responsible for maintaining clean and orderly equipment area and warehouse.

Drives liquid trucks (placard vehicles) containing liquid oxygen and compressed gas as required.

When order is received, select appropriate product from warehouse shelf, help load into company delivery truck for Service Technicians.

When needed if Service Technician is not available when order is received, select appropriate product from warehouse shelf, load into company delivery truck, and deliver to customer ensuring accuracy and on time delivery of product and/or service.

Help Service Technicians perform routine preventive maintenance (PM’s- clean and performs operational checks) on home medical equipment as scheduled.

Acts as a liaison between SMS and customer, customer’s family and caregiver.

Rotates as night and weekend on call Service Technician.

Possesses good understanding of JCAHO HME standards and assists in quality assurance activities related to equipment including attendance at manufacturer-recommended educational and equipment update seminars.

Enters all applicable patient information into TIMS system, as required.

Educates customers on Patient/Client Bill of Rights and Responsibilities of the Patient/Client and, if applicable, ensures customer is advised of payment due.

Adheres to Corporate Compliance Policies, including but not limited to current Medicare guidelines

Job Requirements

General Requirements

Current Michigan Chauffeurs/CDL driver’s license required with X (HAZMAT and tanker) endorsement

Work Experience

Minimum of 2 years in Home Medical Equipment

Rehab equipment repair preferred

Education

High School diploma/GED or successful completion of 12 grades combined with continued enrollment in early college program

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Basic background knowledge in electronics or electronic courses.

Manual and mechanical dexterity.

Demonstrated ability to perform equipment repair according to manufacturer's specifications.

Demonstrated knowledge of database software programs; data processing experience.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Demonstrated people-sensitive characteristics with a genuine desire to help others
