Akkodis is recruiting for a Design Engineer for a large automotive supplier in Auburn Hills, MI. This is a direct hire position with a pay rate of $75K-$90K a year. We are looking for a Design Engineer for the advanced development of coolant and refrigeration products. You will actively participate in thermal fluid flow based new product development programs from initial concept to a successful conclusion. Support projects from research to customer concept validation program level.
Responsibilities of Position: Ideation, design and development of new thermal fluid flow based product technologies, leading design of fluid flow connection technologies Apply component design and manufacturing awareness to thermal product design and development for optimized economic performance Identify appropriate manufacturing techniques and liaise with manufacturing teams globally to develop and implement approach Support development and implementation of prototype build and test & validation plans Support and develop advanced prototype development techniques, such as implementation of additive manufacturing Coordinate with internal and external suppliers for prototype components & tooling Coordinate concept validation testing with internal and external test labs Support development and validation practices for new product developments Application of TI Fluid Systems design and development process and standards, such as DFMEA Provide direction to designers and sub-contractors on development activities Skill Requirements: Knowledge of vehicle coolant and refrigerant components and systems Knowledge of thermal products and systems for electrified vehicles Experience with DVP&R, DFMEA and engineering processes & methods Experience with CAD design software Simulation experience with 1D, FEA and/or CFD an advantage Experience in polymer material processing and development Knowledge of materials used in the thermal management systems an advantage Experience in automotive fluid handling and connection technologies Familiarity with extrusion and injection molding manufacturing processes Familiarity with thermal product validation requirements Excellent customer interaction skills Experience with product cost assessment Ability to manage program events such that engineering objectives are met. Self-directed with a high degree of self- motivation. Strong hands on mentality Team player with ability to support a team goal Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to explain concepts to others. Education and Experience Requirements: 3 to 5 years of engineering design experience. BSME or related engineering degree preferred.
