Job Description

Valassis is seeking a motivated Product Owner to lead the Production Engineering and Ad Integrations and Data teams. The primary responsibilities include gathering product requirements from clients, internal stakeholders, and others to ensure that the scrum teams fully understand what is required from a business standpoint. At this level, a Product Owner is fully independent. This position will help lead the product development efforts and go-to-market strategy, partnering with engineering, sales, marketing, and business development to continue to evolve and innovate our digital advertising.

The ideal candidate is someone with strong leadership and technical skills, coupled with a background working in product management in organizations focused on innovation and growth. Successful individuals will possess business acumen to prioritize initiatives and work with stakeholders and senior management to drive alignment on priorities and tradeoffs. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage all activities of a scrum team including but not limited to daily stand ups, planning, grooming and retrospectives.

Serve as the business expert for the scrum team

Break down epics into features and user stories

Learn and relay technical concepts dynamically based on the audience

Create a relationship with the scrum team which fosters mutual respect

Build market and tech knowledge that will help you make key decisions

Develop a high level of expertise on the products that you support

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or technical aptitude

2 - 5 years relevant experience

Agile certification preferred

Ability to break down technical issues into easily digestible data points

Experience managing a scrum team and backlogs for that team

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Full understanding of agile principles, with agile certification

Ability to define and design user features using your gained knowledge

Ability to engage in problem-solving to solve complex product puzzles

Ability to define product issues and problems and set course for how it should be addressed

Previous advertising or big data experience a plus
