QAD Software Developer Grand Rapids, MI

SUMMARYThe Software Developer plays a critical role in delivering key solutions to our business unit customers by analyzing business requirements, recommending effective solutions, and developing these solutions in an enterprise-wide automotive manufacturing environment. These solutions may be crafted by configuring the QAD ERP system, developing enhancements/browses/reports within the framework of the ERP system, and creating new software applications that meet the business needs for desktop, web, and mobile devices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain high-level documentation for existing application architecture and business processes Facilitate discovery meetings with key stakeholders to understand business goals and make recommendations to build efficiency
Gather requirements for approved projects from end users and articulate them into functional and technical specifications
Craft creative and efficient solutions for end users’ requests whether they be sourced via approved projects or formalized help desk requests
Design, code, and debug solutions using Progress software and QAD report writing tools in test environments prior to deploying to production
Utilize Progress, Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, TFS, HTML, Javascript, SQL, CSS, and MVC, as well as other programming tools as needed
Ensure optimal database and data model design for all business data
Identify test scenarios, write scripts, and perform quality assurance testing on developed solutions.
Analyze and optimize program performance
Write and maintain program documentation
Implement and deliver a crafted solution to achieve desired outcomes and support business activities Collaborate with development team members to solve business problems and create software solutions Communicate within the department and to the business the project and software status and objectives
Work with external QAD helpdesk as needed to report and troubleshoot software bugs. Implement vendor-provided fixes with the assistance of the internal networking team

COMPETENCIES:

QAD ERP experience including financials, manufacturing and inventory control, purchasing and supplier releases, customer release, accounting, and EDI
Technically fluent in Progress programming language
Experienced in
Java, C#, and SQL
Understand full lifecycle application development
Experience in
object-oriented programming
Strong knowledge of system and
software quality assurance best practices and methodologies Knowledge of
database design and file management techniques
Strong customer-service orientation
Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
Ability to conduct research into application development issues and products
Highly self-motivated and well organized
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Four-year
college diploma or university degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or functionally equivalent work experience
5 years of direct experience in software development and programming design in
Progress coding language, C#, and .NET Framework
3 years of direct experience with web technologies, such as
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Web Services
3 years of direct experience
supporting QAD software applications and using associated development tools Experience with
SRSS and other report writing tools, such as Crystal Report Writer and QAD Reporting Framework
