Job Description

The Quality Management and Methods team at our Kentwood manufacturing plant is seeking to add a dynamic and talented engineering student with an interest in learning about process-oriented quality systems and the latest quality methods. This position will support the Tool and Gauge Laboratory where gauges are calibrated against known standards and product measurements are performed. The primary focus of this assignment will be to learn the requirements for an ISO 17025 certified laboratory and apply the standard to an active laboratory, determining gaps in our day-to-day operations, and developing action plans to address them. Other projects assigned will engage the student in hands on work with quality tools, specifying gauges, and documentation. The intern will develop product knowledge and gain both problem solving and technical support skills during the experience. This position could lead to full time employment after the 12 – 16 week internship period.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate or currently enrolled in a program of study toward a degree in an engineering discipline
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Strong technical competency
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and strong time management abilities
  • Ability to find housing in the West Michigan for the summer at a minimum. Prefer a student with local connections to this area.
  • Reliable transportation
