Job Description Our client, provides the most complete range of industry-leading robotics, CNC and motion control systems, and ROBODRILL machining centers. Their innovative technologies and proven expertise help manufacturers in the Americas to be more efficient, reliable and profitable. We are currently searching for a dynamic, self-starter Robot Controls and Dressout Engineer to provide Body Structures Group with controls and dressout engineering expertise with a focus on efficient and accurate execution to help drive customer satisfaction along with overall project profitability.

What you will be doing:
  • Engineer custom body shop solutions based on quoted project deliverables and change orders
  • Lead engineering / development of controls and dressout designs based on customer needs
  • Develop dressout specifications to meet application needs and work with dressout suppliers
  • Develop 2D CAD and/or 3D Solidworks drawings for:
    • Robot with dressout installed
    • Air/Water preparation equipment
    • J3 equipment/pneumatics
    • Robot controller interface package
  • Order robot configurations, dressouts and interface solutions On Time and per customer specifications
  • Hold engineering design reviews and maintain a high level of Engineering Accuracy following ISO
  • procedures
  • Provide regular communication / status updates to project team members and FAC management
  • Provide customer support including application and implementation guidance and design approvals
  • Release approved engineering packages in ERP System for each project
  • Support Continuous Improvement of BSG Engineering Standards and refinement of ISO processes
  • Manage project costs through efficient engineering and focus on lower cost solutions
  • Support manufacturing / integration efforts on FAC floor including testing plans for run-off validation
  • Support field installation and customer site visits as required
  • Support sales and quoting efforts as required
  • Create and deliver technical presentations for internal and customer training
  • Coordinate outside contract support when needed
  • Support failure analysis and troubleshooting efforts and present root cause and corrective action to
  • customers
  • Support integrators and line builders trying to integrate and install new robotic applications

Experience you will need:
  • Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:
  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent education) in related engineering discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum two years of industrial automation design experience with a CAD software package.
  • Experience with robotics in body shop applications including robot interfacing and peripheral equipment integration/operation preferred
  • Ability to create and read electrical interface, robot mechanical dressout and pneumatic prints
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with AutoCad and Solidworks drawing suites
  • PLC programming experience preferred
  • Limited travel potentially during critical phases of projects
