Senior Accountant

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Senior Accountant in EAST LANSING, Michigan. The primary function of this role will be to ensure accurate accounting records and processes within our organization. As a Senior Accountant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our accounting team and contribute to our financial operations.Responsibilities: Accurately verify invoices and other accounting documents or records to maintain financial accuracy. Conduct regular updates and maintenance of accounting journal entries and manage the chart of accounts. Prepare schedules for both government and private grants. Handle accounts payable/receivable and oversee the bi-weekly payroll processing. Compile data to prepare a variety of reports for internal and external stakeholders. Take action to resolve discrepancies and recommend necessary measures. Adhere to established accounting procedures, standards, and applicable laws. Enter data for invoices, checks, vouchers, reports, and account statements. Work with accounting software and Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook to manage and maintain financial transactions.Requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Experience with Full Cycle Payroll is necessary. Knowledge of Government Grants is expected. Familiarity with Private Grants is essential. Ability to handle Journal Entries is a must. Experience with Financial Edge software is preferred.
