GENERAL SUMMARY:Under the direction of a Manager, Director or Lead/Experienced developer, implements a comprehensive program to extract data using a computer programming language or collect data, then analyze it and effectively report information from this data to a variety of customers in a user-friendly and actionable way. This position generates reports, develops tools and provides consultative support as needed. Our customers include physicians, physician groups, physician leaders, hospital leaders, the Board of Trustees, system leadership, transformation consulting, clinical/non-clinical services, Markets, Community, Service Lines, Revenue Cycle, Finance, external oversight/regulatory bodies, or any other user needing information. The Senior Business Intelligence Developer should be able to enhance the data driven culture within the Henry Ford health System, must be able to work in cross-collaboration to gather data, generate reports, develop automated tools, and provides actionable interpretation of information to all the customers. The candidate must be able to present information to customers at all levels, including but not limited to executives, physicians, clinical staff, peers, and external oversight/regulatory bodies. Independently develop comprehensive data assets, ad-hoc reports and implement new or improved reporting processes to support strategic goals, clinical efforts, and any business initiative. Must be able to work with least amount of direction, manage deadlines, maintain timeliness, delivery, and high quality of the products. Anticipate and quickly adapt to evolving needs of the customer. Consistently demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills while maintaining keen attention to detail. Candidate must be able to handle complex and ambiguous requests, maintain timeliness of delivery, data quality and manage changing deadlines.PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tells a story with data insights that are clear and discerning to help leaders make actionable decisions
Takes ownership of tasks, data assets, tools, and project goals to work towards overall success of the business initiatives
Works collaboratively with leaders and teams to understand how data solutions can make a positive impact
Consults, designs metrics, reports, and builds solutions as needed
Documents the process flows and ensures they are monitored for accuracy and quality, train others to create backup support
Provides end-user training on existing tools
Routinely participates in webinars and other educational resources to enhance understanding of current developments in healthcare environment
Generates suggestions for improving work efficiency and promoting quality, demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
Guides customers to the central intake process, triage and fulfill report requests as assigned by the leader
10.Serves as a liaison between Analytics and business leaders11.Research, reviews, and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing report procedures and develops strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes12.Creates complex scripts utilizing optimized query techniques on complex data tables13.Standardizes use of analytics tools and semantic layers throughout the organization14.Anticipates and works strategically to guide team-members based on advanced knowledge of healthcare trends and requirements15.Independently understands driving factors for data needs and provide data elements in addition to specific request 16.Self-manage projects and timelinesSenior Business Intelligence Developer will be working in one of the below listed areas OR any new areas created within the Core Analytics. Below are 2-4 high level key responsibilities in each area. Please note that, not all responsibilities are listed, this is just a guide to provide a high-level scope of each area.Clinical Quality Analytics Preferred knowledge of inpatient healthcare Preferred Statistical analysis knowledge Finance Analytics Financial data projects, revenue, reimbursement, claims, regulatory and others. Working with backend data in-flow for Financial Data Systems (DSS, EPSI, Clarity, WH etc.), Clinical Delivery System or others as needed.HELIOS Preferred familiarity with an EMR system (primarily Epic). Preferred Epic Certification in at-least 1 Epic application.Service Lines Analytics Closely work with operational stakeholders, Service Line leaders to understand needed data solutions, calculate value of those solutions, and provide continuous consulting throughout the assignment. Able to work as a liaison between Analytics and Service Lines clinical and business leaders. Interview users to gather detailed requirements, document them in our central intake process then identify existing solutions in the Analytics space OR if a new solution is needed then create a detailed product delivery plan, navigate existing tools, pull preliminary data from internal systems plus external systems such as Premier, Avant Garde and any others as required to scope the project. Create reports, metrics, tools, data models, data-marts, cubes, dashboards, document process flows, fulfil data needs for the Service Lines on priority basis and work on one-time requests from other areas of the system.Value Based Care IT & Analytics Interface with Population Health and HFPN (Henry Ford Physician Network) leaders to understand how data solutions can make a positive impact and provide consulting, design reports, build solutions as needed, able to work as a liaison between Analytics and Business leaders. Gather detailed requirements, document them in our central intake process then identify existing solutions in the Analytics space OR if a new solution is needed then create a detailed product delivery plan, navigate tools, pull preliminary data from internal systems plus external systems such as MiHIN, Payor Interfaces, Azara and any others as required. Per-Member-Per-Month, Case Management, Ambulatory and Utilization Management related work as directed by the leadership.Revenue Cycle Analytics Working with charge, payments, adjustments, billing and claims data. Create reports aligned with the yearly Playbook initiatives. Develop customer requested automated tools, reports, dashboards, data models, data-marts, data analyses for Coding, Billing, Bad Debt, Payments, Revenue, Customer Service data and others as needed.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree with a Healthcare, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, Business, OR an Applied Science major. Three to four (3-4) years of experience in a Healthcare OR Business setting. Expert in the use of advance Excel, SQL, report building, tool development, requirements gathering and technical documentation. Experience in the use and design of Relational Databases, Data Models, Data Visualizations, curated datasets, data cubes OR experience in Electronic Medical Record(EMR) report development, functionality of any EMR(Epic, Cerner, McKesson or other widely used EMRs). Maintain code repositories on SCM system, familiar with merging, pushing, pulling, branching, staging and code commenting OR MS TFS. Good understanding of fundamental Computer Programming concepts OR Electronic Medical Record systems. Basic understanding of Statistical and Machine Learning concepts. Basic understanding of dimensional models and Data Warehouse OR Electronic Medical Record system. Experience in any Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, Cognos, Looker, Toad, Minitab, Power BI, Qlik, SSRS OR any other. Develop multidimensional semantic layer and analytics query objects for end-users. Proven customer service experience with strong active listening skills. Able to present complex information to diverse audiences. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
