Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in the manufacturing industry, located in Belding, Michigan. This role involves supporting the accounting operations of the company, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with internal and external accounting standards. The Sr. Accountant will also contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.Responsibilities: Apply US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to maintain the general accounting system and reconcile general ledger accounts Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements Draft financial statement footnotes and focus on inventory tracking, valuation, and analysis Support the month-end and year-end closing processes Prepare and submit various financial reports in compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements Conduct variance analysis and report findings to management Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information Assist in annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting activities Monitor and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support overall company objectives and initiatives Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function Work closely with Controller on ad hoc projects, including implementation of processes and systemsRequirements Must hold a minimum of 3 years of experience as an Accountant or in a similar role Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations is required Should have a strong understanding and working knowledge of the general ledger and journal entries Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and have experience with month-end close Experience with process improvement initiatives in an accounting context would be advantageous A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills are essential Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently as well as part of a team Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) would be a plus Familiarity with accounting software and systems would be beneficial Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion is critical Must possess strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
