Description Staff Accountant – Aviation Services IndustryPosition Overview:Our client in the aviation services sector is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. This role is integral to maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the company’s Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process, including purchase order management, invoice processing, account reconciliations, and payment preparation. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of strong accounting expertise, organizational skills, and a proactive attitude to ensure financial operations run seamlessly. Prepare, analyze, and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and profit-and-loss reports.

Reconcile accounts monthly (e.g., bank accounts, payroll, and cash disbursements) to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Maintain the general ledger with precision, including entries for complex transactions.

Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits by providing necessary documentation and support.

Ensure compliance with tax filings at all levels—federal, state, and local—by submitting accurate reports and forms.

Oversee accounting software systems, including liaising with vendors to recommend and implement system updates.

Manage end-to-end purchase order processes, including review for accuracy and validity.

Process and log accounts payable invoices, verifying each against purchase orders for consistency.

Partner with vendors to ensure timely receipt of invoices and proactively resolve discrepancies, including price differences or missing invoices.

Coordinate payment runs by preparing necessary documentation for management reviews.

Organize creditor/vendor files and maintain accurate records for audit and reporting purposes.

Comply with regulatory standards, such as maintaining W9 forms for vendors and assisting with 1099 filings.

Develop and deliver financial reports as needed across departments to enhance decision-making.

Promote process improvements and cross-department collaboration while actively participating in meetings.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting policies and regulations to ensure procedural compliance.

Requirements

Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close, Sales Tax, Property Tax, Ad Hoc Analysis, Fixed Assets, Process Improvement, Process Documentation, MS Dynamics 365 Business CentralQualifications and Skills:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.

Minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Business Central (preferred), Continia (a plus), and the Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a knack for problem-solving.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, consistently meeting tight deadlines.

Exceptional integrity, credibility, and commitment to fostering a positive, teamwork-oriented culture.

Desired Competencies:

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standard accounting practices.

Proficiency in reconciling credit card transactions and other general ledger accounts.

Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with banks, vendors, and internal teams.

Initiative to identify process improvements and contribute to financial efficiency.
