Minimum Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in data engineering, working with data platforms (cloud data lake, cloud data warehouse) as a senior developer, engineer or architect
  • Experience with cloud-based integration platforms (like Informatica Cloud/IICS, Azure Data Factory, Dell Boomi, SnapLogic, IBM) or on-prem like Informatica PowerCenter
  • Experience with SQL in databases like SQL Server or Oracle
  • Experience with using work item tracking tools like Jira or Azure DevOps
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure such as Microsoft Azure or AWS

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of data engineering/warehousing experience and 3+ years of managing data resources
  • Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Strong preference for python
  • Experience mentoring and managing other Data Engineers, ensuring data engineering best practices are being followed
  • Experience with cloud hardware provisioning, forecasting usage, and managing to a budget
  • Experience working with AWS with a strong understanding of their offerings (Athena, SQL Server, Kinesis, Redshift, Lambda, S3, EC2, Lake Formation etc.)
  • Experience with Big Data Technologies
  • Experience with Data Lakes (particularly AWS Glue, S3, and Athena, Lambda)
  • Experience with Data Pipeline/ETL tools (particularly AWS Step Functions, Airflow, AWS Glue)
  • Experience using IAC and managing Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, Spark, and CI/CD services
  • Strong preference for IAC
  • Containerization: Docker, Terraform
  • Container Orchestration: Kubernetes, Helm Charts, Rancher
  • Experience with AWS security groups, KMS for encryption
  • Experience with visualization and dashboarding tools like PowerBI and Tableau
  • Experience with IAM roles, Users and Policies

Job Summary

The Team Leader of Data Engineering leads a team of data engineers supporting data extraction, transformation and loading from source systems into the organization's data platform. You'll understand modern data engineering techniques and build new stuff including people, processes and technology. Your team builds the next generation data infrastructure to power our enterprise data, reporting and analytics engine.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor the team on performance, outcome and day-to-day tasks
  • Act as a Scrum Master to lead all Agile ceremonies, daily stand-ups, sprint retrospectives, sprint planning, remove roadblocks that impede progress and ensure delivery of committed work
  • Meet business, product and technology stakeholders regularly to identify data needs and engage team in gathering requirements, estimations and planning work
  • Perform regular production support reviews and project status reviews, and communicate to direct leader and senior leaders
  • Proactively identify process improvements opportunities and recommend solutions to architects and senior leadership
  • Deliver regular feedback to the team for motivation and growth, and work with team members to craft a career vision that is inspiring and meaningful
  • Use experience and knowledge to provide subject matter expertise on coding, design and technical architecture to the team and guide them toward effective problem solving
  • Do what it takes to ensure execution, including assisting in the actual work where needed and seeing a problem through to a solution

The salary range for this position is ninety-three thousand five hundred dollars to one hundred ninety-five thousand five hundred dollars.
