The resource will provide support for two projects over two years (Nursery 1.5 yrs, FIRS .5 yrs) with projects running concurrently.1. Online Nursery Ordering and Inventory System (est. 3,120 hrs) – The purpose of this project is to extend the current nursery ordering and inventory system into online functionality for public access to view tree species availability, place orders, and pay online. The project also includes improved reporting capabilities in both the number of standard reports, adhoc querying, and the ability to produce customizable reports. The person hired for this position would be asked to validate and update already collected business requirements and then work with the project team (State and Vendor) in the capacity of a Business Analyst through successful implementation of the final product.2. Forestry Incident Reporting System Upgrade (est. 1,040 hrs)- The Forestry Incident Reporting System (FIRS) is an application that the Division of Forestry uses to document forestry law enforcement incidents throughout the state, including but not limited to wildfires, timber trespass violations, and off-highway vehicle incidents. The system is built on an outdated version of the Ruby on Rails framework (2.3) that no longer receives maintenance or security patches. It is necessary to upgrade to a more recent version of the framework in order to receive continued support and ensure application security. Along with the version update, the team is looking at a few enhancements that will meet new needs of the forest officers and leadership.
