Join the talented, engaged and inclusive workforce dedicated to creating a better Minnesota.This position exists to perform skilled maintenance and repairs on buildings, building utilities, structures and grounds. The position will perform building utilities mechanic work so customer requests and building and grounds maintenance needs are completed to meet expectations and maintenance standards.The position is responsible to install, repair, and maintain electrical, plumbing, sewer, water and steam, hot water, forced air heating, BEM systems, and all HVAC systems. In addition, the position installs, trouble shoots, repairs, and checks operation of electrical controls and accessories, overhead doors, door locks, operators, and all building utilities and systems. Also, the position will maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for building utilities and equipment; keep records of materials used and time spent on projects; supervise and direct tradesmen and laborers for the west metro facilities.The successful candidate may be eligible for a $5,000 hiring incentive.NOTE: The incumbent in this position is required to be immediately accessible by phone and able to report to work within one (1) hour of being called.Minimum QualificationsTo qualify for the Building Utilities Mechanic, applicants must meet all the following:

Ability to perform a wide variety of carpentry, construction, painting, general mechanics, plumbing repairs and installation

Knowledge of safety and environmental laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

Knowledge of building plans, specifications, and construction methods

Knowledge of all aspects of building and grounds maintenance and construction practices

Knowledge of emergency generator systems and various low voltage wiring systems

Knowledge of building energy management systems; safety and environmental regulations; state and federal OSHA rules and regulations

Knowledge of purchasing guidelines; ability to order job materials and purchase parts and tools

Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, state electrical codes, and skills performing electrical repairs, installations and troubleshooting of electromechanical equipment

Licensure:

Journey Electricians license OR Journey Plumber License OR Class C Boiler Engineers License with the Dept. of Labor and Industry

Class D driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to organize work, train, and guide fellow employees

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Knowledge of NEC and math applications

Knowledge and skill in general commercial building construction.

Basic computer skills with knowledge and application of windows based operating systems and applications.
