The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities.This position exists to lead Closed Landfill Unit 2 in the Closed Landfills and Data Support Section Section of the Remediation Division.With help and assistance from division leadership this position will supervise Closed Landfill Unit 2 staff including planning, implementing and managing the operations of the unit including managing all administrative and personnel issues . Specific program operations include land management including implementation of appropriate land use controls, environmental monitoring for contamination at and adjacent to program closed landfills including monitoring potentially at risk drinking water and indoor air receptors, operation and maintenance of closed landfills including landfill gas systems, landfill leachate systems and g roundwater remediation systems, closed landfill construction projects to address human health and environmental risks and enabling closed landfill reuse. Leading closed landfill program operations involves significant fiscal and budgetary aspects to assure effective utilization of project funds to accomplish program goals and objectives. This position also has a leadership role in communication and outreach to community groups, stakeholder, elected officials and the media, communication work may include being the Agency spokesperson for the closed landfill program.Minimum Qualifications1) One year of supervisory experience in environmental protection/pollution control,OR2) Two years of advanced professional experience in environmental protection/pollution control, including such activities as site assessment and remedial cleanup, and fiscal and contract management. Examples for internal candidates – (Environmental Specialist 4, Planner Principal, Hydrologist 2, Engineer 2 Graduate, Research Scientist 2, or related classes).OR3) Three years of environmental experience performing work equivalent to an Environmental Specialist 3 level or senior level work directing, designing, AND developing environmental assessment or remedial programs.OR4) Equivalent combination of the above.The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will not sponsor applicants for work visas. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.Additional RequirementsPosition duties may require travel, but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position.
