Position: Cyber Security Engineering

Location: Duluth, MN/ St. Paul, MN (flexibility for remote)

Duration: 6 Months (Possible Extension)

Project Title: Threat and Vulnerability Analyst

Essentials duties within Cyber Security Operations, including:
  • Configuring and managing the state-wide vulnerability management and application security platforms.
  • Examining security systems and web applications

Project Deliverables:
  • The Threat and Vulnerability Analyst will be filling a role outside of project work and will be part of the Cyber Security team.
  • The candidate will be responsible for Vulnerability Management policy enforcement, reporting, and maintaining the Qualys Platform.
  • The candidate will also utilize Veracode and Qualys to perform application scanning and work with development teams to ensure remediation or vulnerabilities discovered during these scans.
  • Attending and/or facilitating meeting and providing reporting to management will also be required.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years' IT experience with at least one year in cyber security
  • Certifications: CISSP, GSEC, GWAPT, or Security+

Required Skills:
  • Ability to maintain the enterprise-wide vulnerability management platform
  • Ability to define and collect Vulnerability Management program metrics
  • Ability to conduct vulnerability assessments of MJB-supported applications
  • Ability to conduct cyber security review of current work efforts and projects relating to application development and application management to identify vulnerabilities; conduct code reviews of work efforts and projects.
  • Experience with 3rd party patching applications and vulnerability\application scanning platforms is required
  • Ability to break down complex problems using a scientific method of troubleshooting issues, resolving and mitigating risk, documenting root cause, and defending analysis.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, and standards of IT systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of technical and business partners regarding complex technology.
  • Manage cyber security process documentation related to application security to ensure all process are up to date and comply with MJB policies
  • Provide level 3 service desk support for MJB Cyber Security-supported applications.
