Growing together.Optum Financial is seeking a General Manager (GM) and Head of Payment Network Growth and Retail Partnerships, who will report to the Consumer Group Executive within the Optum Financial business.Optum Financial is a health FinTech company delivering end-to-end integrated payments, commerce, and banking experiences for consumers, providers, and payers, embedded within the health care ecosystem. Optum Financial is part of UnitedHealth Group, a Fortune 5 company serving 145 million individuals globally.The GM and Head of Network Growth and Retail Partnerships is responsible for facilitating and executing on a strategy that drives significant growth of the retail network by expanding the number of major retail and e-commerce partnerships that comprise the network. This executive will be tasked with monetizing the existing partnership ecosystem and evaluating and negotiating contracts with key strategic partners. The successful candidate will be an ambitious visionary with the proven ability to deliver impactful partnership opportunities across the broader retail ecosystem. Furthermore, this leader should be highly motivated to succeed, possess exceptional executive presence and be accepted by senior decision makers at major merchants and network partners. In this role, the GM and Head of Network and Retail Partnerships will work cross-functionally based on retailer/provider needs and may work closely with network implementation, technology, product and network management for renewals and upselling/cross selling opportunities.Primary Responsibilities
Accountable for driving and expanding our retail and healthcare payment acceptance and networks drastically over the next five years
Serve as primary external representation in trade negotiations with major retail and network partners
Demonstrate expertise in navigating relationships in the payer industry while also creating the strategy to become a viable competitor
Develop and lead compliance and standards for merchant acceptance
Define, articulate, and execute on a clear vision and strategic partnership roadmap to support revenue growth and drive direct business impact
Establish key KPI’s and success measures for the partnerships based on a clear strategy and business model
Track progress against goals and hit targets
Serve as a senior liaison on key retail accounts, working alongside the senior leadership team to develop executive relationships within the network
Demonstrate understanding of the competitor landscape within the market (e.g., rates; market share; products; provider networks, market intelligence; GeoAccess)
Actively participate with the payer growth/sales team on business development efforts
Demonstrate an understanding of contract policies to ensure compliance and consistent contracting across the enterprise
Oversee network partner financial performance to identify opportunities to improve performance and/or partner relationship
Collaborate with Network Management, Technology, Retail onboarding. and other functional leadership to maintain internal alignment and cohesiveness of initiative and work priorities across business and function

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
10 + years of P&L leadership experience
Payment network growth experience
Proven experience in building relationships with large and regional players and healthcare providers and managing a team of sales professionals
Ability to work in a complex, matrixed environment
Policy/regulatory understanding
Motivational people leader
Expert relationship, management, and negotiation skills
Expert collaborator, communicator, and executive presence
Solid financial and business model acumen
Solid understanding of market, industry, and consumer trends and how to apply them on an ongoing basis to create leading solutions
Ability to travel up to 50%
