Overview:

This position is part of the Enterprise Data and Analytics (eDNA) area, in the Platform and Tools Enablement (PTE) Center of Excellence. The PTE team is a function dedicated to providing technologies and platforms for enterprise-wide data and analytics at Securian. The team is foundational for ensuring areas such as Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Governance, and Analytics teams can operate effectively in their roles. A leader in this position will manage a team of associates and actively partner with Data Engineering, Data Science, and other teams to understand current and future needs. This team will execute projects to research, proof of concept, and implement new solutions. The leader and team will also maintain awareness of trends and technologies to meet new and emerging stakeholder requirements. PTE ensures technology and automation solutions are available to successfully leverage data as an asset.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Champion the selection of Data and Analytics platforms and tools to be used across the enterprise.
  • Oversee partnership and collaboration with areas such as the Cloud Engineering Team, Enterprise Architecture, and Cyber Security.
  • Partners and works Enterprise Architecture and eDNA architecture teams and oversees the engineering, design, build, and maintenance of enterprise data assets adhering to architecture standards.
  • Support the creation of strategic data products in Cloud environments and exploration of new technologies and techniques.
  • Engage with users and vendors to execute technology proof of concepts that validate use cases and the value of new solutions.
  • Onboard new platforms and tools to ensure solutions are adopted effectively across the organization.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Data Science, and other teams to identify tooling gaps and inefficiencies, and partner to implement solutions for their needs.
  • Research and experiment with data and analytics tools to stay at the forefront of technology trends.
  • Drive innovation and experimentation, matching business needs with technology solutions.
  • Recruits, motivates, and develops diverse team of professionals and leaders to sustain a high-performing, strategically focused workforce within the Platform and Tools Enablement COE.
  • Accountable for the financial and human resources of the Platform and Tools Enablement COE, including, but not limited to, budgeting and staffing of the function.

    Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a range of experience with Data and Analytics technologies and concepts.
  • Passion and understanding of new technology and trends including database and analytics technologies, data science, AI and machine learning. Desire and willingness to continuously improve those skills and knowledge.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to create and maintain a positive culture and drive results through others.
  • Effective prioritization, including the ability to balance precision / accuracy and resources / timelines within the bigger picture.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and project management skills to ensure quality standards and deadlines are met
  • Collaborative, service, and consulting oriented style to add value and meet needs of business partners
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to explain processes and results to both management and non-management audiences
  • Ability to build productive relationships and collaborate with partners and stakeholders.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to bringing projects and issues to closure
  • Demonstrated innovation, automation, and change leadership
  • Experience developing and leading high-performing, diverse teams.
  • Experience in implementing Enterprise Data Platforms.
  • Proficient with in AWS cloud services and tool stack (eg. S3, Glue, StreamSets, Redshift, Neptune etc.,.)
  • Ability to successfully execute proof of concept projects and implement new technologies.

    This position will be in a hybrid working arrangement.
