Summary of PositionThis position will work approximately 4 hours per week. Augsburg PA trains empathic, community-minded, and forward-thinking health care leaders to practice in primary care with a focus on underserved, underrepresented, and marginalized communities. Specializing in team-based learning for team-based patient care, Augsburg’s PA program values connection, inclusion, and innovation. As the first accredited PA program in Minnesota, Augsburg PA prepares students to be practice-ready through case-based learning, projects, and hands-on skills, including mannequin-based simulation and point of care ultrasound.The Medical Director of the Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Program is a non-teaching position that supports the implementation of program goals as delegated by the PA Program Director. The ideal candidate will be committed to medical education, with knowledge of and vision about the role of PAs. They should be a self-motivated team member who works well in collaboration with a cohesive and experienced group of faculty and professional staff, and is looking to grow their educational and professional experience, as well as the program's.Responsibilities:Prioritize the mission of the University and the PA program and advocate for the Augsburg PA Program and the PA profession in the medical community.Actively support the development of the program competencies to meet current practice standards as they relate to the PA role.Support and participate in the annual review of the PA Program mission statement and competencies.Chair and coordinate quarterly PA Program Advisory Council meetings to facilitate feedback, advice and guidance to the program related to admissions, curriculum and clinical training, program policies, and community engagement.Collaborate with PA program faculty through a mutually drafted practice agreement for curriculum-related student learning activities, including community service events, health fairs, basic foot care, and health screening activities.Attend and participate in milestone events, including admissions application review and interviews, first day of class orientation, white coat ceremony, and graduation.Guest speak in the classroom and mentor students as appropriate.Attend department meetings, faculty meetings or staff meetings as recommended. Work Environment and Physical DemandsTypical work environment is an office.Regular computer and phone use.
