2nd Shift Ractopamine Residue

HOURS:2 nd Shift as scheduled, flexible as needed or required

POSITION DESCRIPTION:Manage a pre-screening and segregation process of never fed beta agonist (racto-free) hogs to ensure that animals that are purchased have not been exposed to ractopamine and thus are eligible to be used for never fed beta agonist program product. Utilizing saliva collected from live hogs, this pre-screening dramatically reduces any risk that JBS plants may be de-listed from export countries who do not allow the use of beta agonists

DutiesPrepare, collect and perform swine saliva tests for purposes of verifying that Ractopamine Residue is not present

Responsible to order, manage and organize the inventory of supplies for testing

Test or trial new & improved collection methods and procedures

Prepare notes, reports, charts and graphs as necessary

Maintain a history log of tested producers

Create & update all Standard Operating Procedures for the process

TQA Certification, comfortable working around active market swine

Develop an understanding of livestock and harvesting process

Ensure safe work practices are being followed

Assist the Livestock Manager or Animal Welfare Manager with designated tasks

Comply with relevant laws, rules, and procedures, including Packers and Stockyards Act and Humane Handling

QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of our industry is beneficial

Basic math and analytical skills

Good people skills

Excellent communication skills

Self-motivated and work well without direct supervision

Must be able to work with live hogs and handle them within humane handling guidelines.

Ability to follow instructions

Team Player

Must be able to rotate shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd) as needed
