We are seeking an Operating Engineer for our Paper Mill in St. Paul, Minnesota.Potential hiring bonus of $15,000. $5,000 at 90 days, $5,000 at 6 months & $5,000 at 1 year of continuous employment.Pay: Minimum starting pay is $29.95 per hour and pay once a Qualified Operating Engineer is $41.63 per hour.Shift: Rotating shift weekdays, weekends, and holidays.RESPONSIBILITIES: The Operating Engineer will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of high-pressure boilers, turbine generators andauxiliary equipment. Maintains turbine generator and auxiliary equipment in proper operating condition. Switch to back-up equipment or shuts down/starts up machinery when necessary. Provides work direction to co-workers on shift and other skilled trades workers when necessary. Communicates with other Mill and Power Plant operations regarding unplanned occurrences to minimize disruptions and/or downtime usingexperience, knowledge of the plant, and industry standards. Tests, inspects, and operates Auxiliary equipment for boilers, turbines, and air compressors. Maintains water make up systems and equipment. Test condensate to determine whether outside normal specifications. Logs condensate information when outside norms and determines general locations of problems. Starts and stops boilers in accordance with State regulations and prescribed procedures. Ensures that the physical plant is operated in a safe, proper, and economic manner. Other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to work in the United States and have acceptable I-9 documentation. Must be able to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, procedural manuals, etc. Education Must have a high school diploma or GED. State of Minnesota MN Special License is the minimum requirement. State of Minnesota MN Operating Engineer Class A license preferred. First-Class A license must be obtained within 3 years of hire. Working knowledge of power plant systems and how to perform system operational maintenance. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in an environment that requires occasional heavy lifting, exposure to warm and cold environments, climbing of ladders, etc. Must join/be a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 70, AFL-CIO, and meet/sustain requirements of the currentapplicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
