Assisting in the OR during operative procedures in accordance with AORN Standards and department policies and procedures

Arranging and inventorying sterile set-up; passing sterile items to the surgeon, assisting in the preparation and movement of patients, and in the clean-up of the operating room

Delivery of quality surgical nursing care to the adult, adolescent, pediatric, and geriatric surgical patient utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation)

Providing surgical nursing support for a variety major and minor surgical cases

Delivery of quality surgical nursing care to the adult, adolescent, pediatric, and geriatric surgical patient utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation)

Comprehensive care of the surgical patient during the pre-op, intra-op and immediate post-operative course for the patient

Supervising, directing and coordinating the activities of surgical nursing team members in the absence of the Surgery Supervisor

Delegating care based on the abilities and limitations of care personnel and patient acuity

Providing surgical nursing support for a variety major and minor surgical cases

Delivering care through the use of the nursing process.

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) License by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing

BLS, ACLS & PALS will be acquired and maintained

Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communciation skills; interacts effectively with providers, patients, visitors and staff

Well organized

Demonstrates critical thinking and decision making skills

Anticipates and recognizes need for immediate emergency patient interventions

Preferred Qualifications:

Three years recent acute care work experience
