Securian Financial Groups internal position title is Product Consultant.

Position Summary:

As the Product Owner you will lead the product vision and delivery for the Employee Benefits Solutions Voluntary Benefits Claims experience journey. You will need to incorporate multiple business stakeholder point of views, along with survey data, voice of the customer and usability feedback to provide a customized, transformational Voluntary Benefits customer experience. You will be empowered and accountable to drive customer experience outcomes by executing on business strategy, increasing business operational efficiency, retiring legacy systems and aligning tactical decisions with strategic architectural principles.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Create a compelling product vision, develop and execute on product roadmap with a focus on measurable outcomes, track and regularly shares progress with stakeholders and team.
  • Defines Product KPIs, monitors and reports on business and customer metrics/outcomes.
  • Collaborates with teams across Employee Benefits Solutions, Securian Business Services and Enterprise Technology to elicit, analyze and understand needs, constraints, risk and alignment with organizational strategy and priorities.
  • Engages and collaborates with team and stakeholders to create and manage Agile artifacts (e.g. Product Roadmap, Backlog, Release Plan) and information needed for prioritization decision-making and regularly assesses features and costs to determine whether and when to proceed. Responsible for accepting product deliverables.
  • Prioritizing and maintaining the sprint backlog for assigned products, balancing the requirements of stakeholders.
  • Brings voice of the customer through usability, analytics and survey feedback to deliver features that meet their needs, while also ensuring business outcomes are met.
  • Cultivate and maintain an effective relationship with all Stakeholders, and help the business create requirements for changes/improvements.

    Qualifications:

  • Strategic thinker, analytical and results driven.
  • Leadership skills to gain credibility, garner respect, guide the creation of a self-organizing team and be assertive with business priorities and opposing viewpoints while adhering to Agile concepts and principles.
  • Working knowledge of Agile practices. Understands the fundamentals of iterative development, incremental delivery, backlog management, burn down metrics, velocity and task definition.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills to connect and engage team, facilitate discussion, advocate for team and negotiate with business/corporate areas, mentor/coach team members, and resolve conflict.
  • Solid analytical skills, creative problem-solving skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and schedules, handle multiple issues simultaneously, and to manage stressful situations.
  • Strong knowledge of technical concepts, architectural principles to drive scalable solutions.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 - 5 years experience as a product owner with the ability to demonstrate realized business value and outcomes.
  • Experience with insurance products or employee benefits programs.
  • Experience with customer self-service portals, Claims experiences and/or marketing.

    This position will be in a hybrid working arrangement.

    Physical job requirements:

  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
  • Ability to utilize telephone for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to perform grasping tasks throughout the entire work day (examples: handwriting, grasping of equipment/machines, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, handling stacks of paper)
