Description Robert Half is seeking a Production Drafter for an exciting opportunity with a growing Minneapolis based construction company. This position will be responsible for creating and maintaining precise drawings for mechanical piping systems across multiple locations. The role will focus on cross-functional collaboration with construction and operations teams to develop fabrication drawings, managing project costs, and designing cost-effective solutions to meet customer requirements. Responsibilities: Develop detailed pipe process routing models, spool drawings, and bill of materials for mechanical piping systems. Collaborate with project engineers, mechanical designers, in-house fabricators, and installers during the design and construction process. Review shop drawings for quality and accuracy, making modifications as field changes occur. Generate custom process piping designs for permitting, fabrication, and construction to support manufacturing and facilities. Provide innovative ideas for pre-construction, off-site fabrication, and pipe routing. Provide creative ideas regarding pre-construction, off-site fabrication, and pipe routing. Prepare construction documents, material takeoffs, and bill of material estimates from models for procurement and estimating. Perform field surveys and create as-built drawings, including processing 3D scans, incorporating them into the modeling process. Check and verify discipline design on projects and prepare design sketches for use by drafting personnel.Requirements Minimum of three years of experience in a production drafter role or similar position, preferably within the construction industry. Proficient in CAD (Computer Aided Drafting or Design) and drafting techniques. Skilled in using AutoCAD, Revit, and Autodesk software for drafting and design tasks. Experience developing design drawings and shop drawings in line with project requirements Experience in the pipe fitting field or working with a fabricator preferred. Ability to produce fabrication and spool drawings. Ability to read engineer project specification and engineering drawings and layouts. Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
