Securian Financial is looking for a collaborative technical manager who is passionate about delivering high quality software and systems. The Quality Engineering Manager will lead quality engineers and provide thought leadership for establishing a culture for quality. We seek a manager who will partner across Enterprise Technology to streamline quality processes, tools, and technologies for superior product quality and high team effectiveness.
What you would do in this job: Lead the transformation of Enterprise Technology Quality Engineering with processes, tools, and technologies. Manage internal QE associates and leverage a global delivery model for staffing where appropriate. Participate in thought leadership, decisions, and setting direction for Enterprise Technology. May be a leader on committees and work groups for special initiatives. Promote & recommend quality practices to further continuous delivery & continuous improvement with a DevOps/Agile mindset. Recommend and support the development of test automation strategies to facilitate the successful delivery of customer value for the Securian Markets. What you will bring: Be a motivated self-starter, results oriented individual, with a successful track record of leading change and overcoming obstacles Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills to engage with team members and collaborate with internal and external technology and business partners. Awareness of QE industry trends and technologies Leadership skills to influence ET associates, teams, and quality maturity Ability to work in a matrixed organization and interfacing with multiple teamsDemonstrated project management and communication skills to effectively work with business areas, ET partners, teams, and vendors Responsible for test metrics and reporting as a measure of QE effectiveness Experience in creating quality strategy and setting direction to ensure product quality Preferred Qualifications: BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience 5+ years of experience as a leader of people 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Engineering 3+ years in Insurance industry, a plus 10+ years system/application technology industry Experience with UI, API, data, and static testing Experience with Agile, DevOps, and SecOps practices This position will be in a hybrid working arrangement. Physical job requirements: Ability to work at least 40 hours per week Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day Ability to utilize telephone for approximately 1-4 hours per day Ability to perform simple grasping including handwriting, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, etc. periodically throughout entire workday The physical job requirements described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
