Anyone interested in being a carer for an elder who has given so much to our community? Can get paid $19.50-21.50/h through PCA company. Join a queer-trans pod grounded in mutual aid and disability justice.

Carer explanation

Interested Carers:

-company pays $19.5-/hr for day and evening shift, and $21.50/hr overnight (accra homecare)

-any level of experience welcome, but need to be self directed after some training

-COVID safety is a necessity, kn95 masks required to wear during shifts, we can provide them

-cannot come to work if sick

-tolerance for cigarette smoke

-femmes, women, trans, queer people preferred - cannot work with cisgender straight men

Available shifts are sporadic at this time:

-11a-4pm Saturday

-6p-11p Wed/Fri/Sun

-12a-8a Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat

Caregiving Needs:

-transfers from bed to commode with electric ceiling lift

-medication reminders and administration

-rolling cigarettes with electric roller

-make simple soft meals

-bed baths

-laundry

-cleaning: dusting, vacuuming, cleaning tray surfaces, dishes

-an ability to roll with very specific placement of items

-1:1 with another carer on phone

-if a fit for both folks, meet with our elder

-we want to create community with others focused on Disability justice and mutual aid (if you don't know what those are, thats ok! we are happy to explain)

-throughout her life she has given to others with consistent activism and caregiving - we want to give that energy back to her during her "gifted time"

-she is looking to be surrounded by people where she can safely be her full self
