R&D Food ManagerDirect Placement | Excellent Benefits | Comprehensive Relocation PackageJob DescriptionSeeking an R&D Manager who will be responsible for creating new product formulations, overseeing the R&D process, helping create and monitor a consistent high-quality product, and maintaining or developing new customer and supplier relationships.Responsibilities:
Lead product development and optimization, collaborating with project managers and the cross-functional team (following stage gate methodology).
Responsible for prototyping, formulation, pilot production, and scale-up to plant implementation of innovation and renovation of Candy and Confectionary products.
Possess strong product development skills in ingredient functionality, material selection, and formulation to understand effects on finished product performance.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to obtain market research to understand consumer trends, preferences, and emerging needs regarding flavor, nutrition, label claims, etc., and apply to product design.
Identify and communicate formula limitations (MOQ, cost, lead times, processing concerns) to appropriate stakeholders.
Conduct trials, collect data, and interpret results to drive projects forward, develop action plans, risk assessments, and contingency planning.
Work with R&D Application Specialists to complete benchtop samples and collect data needed for future samples or to scale formulas for production.
Ability to develop formulas from benchtop to production line trial through development of ingredient and formulation trial plans.
Directly manage and develop R&D Staff for the Candy and Confectionary R&D Team. Reports to the Director of R&D.
Utilize Genesis Labelling systems for generating new specifications, ingredients, and claims. Use internal systems to introduce new ingredients and materials. Experience with project management and R&D stage gate systems to monitor R&D project workload and progress strategically.
Qualifications:
BS or MS degree in Food Science, Nutrition/Dietetics, Chemical Engineering or Related
5+ years experience in a lead Food Science function, performing formulation, scale up, and continuous improvement projects.
Need to bring new products from Ideation through commercialization.
Experience in R&D for confectionary, candy, gummy, or snack products.
