Senior Data and Analytics Platform Engineer

OVERVIEW:

Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, applying learning agility and deep cloud engineering skillsets to implement and mature diverse data platform technologies to accelerate General Mills' business. Negotiate a complex set of priorities to deliver business capabilities while maintaining technical sustainability. Engage cross-functionally with other technical contributors to provide leadership in the delivery of shared objectives. Collaborate with General Mills architects, product owners and engineers to help shape technical direction for the Data Platforms Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contribute to General Mills' data and analytics technical roadmap providing leadership on how various solutions, products, and features will be delivered and prioritized.
Work closely with engineers, developers, analysts, product managers, stakeholders to design and implement data and analytics solution and integration blueprints that are secure, sustainable, scalable, and easily adopted following best practices and industry standards.
Define data and analytics design blueprints, best practices, and operational readiness model
Gather and present requirements and analysis for new products, solutions, or integrations, creating blueprint diagrams, proof of concept or pilot workloads, and integration workflows.
Build and run cloud infrastructure solutions to support data and analytics capabilities.
Provide development and production rotating on call support for various data and analytics products and processes.
Focus on the big picture to influence current and future designs at scale.
Champion a learning mindset: stay current with emerging data and analytics technologies, methodologies, processes, and products.
Practice diligence around the security of data and analytics, proactively working to identify and manage cybersecurity risk, and consistently re-evaluating least privilege access.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
3-5+ years of experience in a comparable or related technical role
Experience with Relational, Non-Relational, and Big Data technology and techniques
Knowledge of traditional Data Frameworks and Enterprise Data Warehouse strategies
Experience with implementation and management of data technologies
Understand how to secure data and manage applicable governance based on data classification
Firm understanding of OS (Operating System), network, and authentication principles
Agile planning and backlog management experience

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Experience with Google Cloud Platform core architecture and components preferred. IAM, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Networking, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Logging, Monitoring.
Experience with other cloud providers. AWS, Azure, Alibaba Cloud, Snowflake
Programming languages (such as Python, PowerShell, .NET, C#, JavaScript, Go)
Experience with building data infrastructure in the cloud and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
Experience orchestrating infrastructure changes leveraging a continuous integration/continuous deployment methodology with custom or third-party tooling (Airflow, Ansible, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, SaltStack)
Experience in software version control team practices and tools such as GIT/TFS
Proficiency with Governance and IT controls as they relate to data technologies, including secrets management (HashiCorp Vault) and privileged access.
Linux and Windows system administration experience.

The salary range for this position $103,600 - $172,900.
