Position: Senior GIS Administrator Engineer

Location: Ramsey, MN (Hybrid)

Duration: 6 Months

Summary:
  • Build, administer, support, and maintain solutions as directed and according to client and divisional policy.
  • Work with a team of developers, infrastructure specialists, and engineers to ensure services are integrated, delivered, and operated as required.
  • Translate architectural designs into operations by collaborating with technical architects and being supported by third parties on infrastructure services.
  • Provide input to overall management – workforce, budget, technology roadmaps, projects, and tasks.
  • The primary focus area will be administering and supporting all company Geographic Information Systems.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • ESRI ArcGIS Systems – Design, implement, administer, maintain and support ESRI ArcGIS systems to support various mapping applications provided throughout the IT group and organization.
  • System performance tuning, collaborating with load testing activities and engagements across cross-functional teams to shape design and product direction.
  • Document technical design solutions, architecture, release workflows, and system maintenance knowledge base articles.
  • Information Security – Maintains the security, confidentiality, and integrity of information systems through compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. Designs, implements, and operates controls and management strategies to allow this.
  • System Design – Creates the specification and design of systems to meet defined business needs. Has the ability to work with business and technology stakeholders to translate business problems into technical designs. Able to visualize the ideal user service, come up with design ideas and possible design approaches. Explores different approaches to solving problems.
  • Ownership & Initiative – Stay apprised of vendor roadmaps for new releases, enhancements, and end-of-support announcements. Takes ownership of problems and proactively resolves technical problems, ensuring that technical solutions continue to meet business requirements. Takes full accountability for actions taken and decisions made.
  • Problem Solving – Understands and identifies problems, analyzing and helping to identify the appropriate solution. Ability to classify and prioritize problems, document their causes, and implement remedies.
  • Service Focus – Maintains focus on the whole life of service delivery – designs, develops, delivers, operates, and maintains GIS Systems. Ensures that a set of IT Products, suppliers, and vendors come together to deliver an IT service.
  • Technical Understanding – Has the specific knowledge which underpins an individual's ability to deliver the responsibilities and tasks of their role. This relates to the application of the required breadth and depth of technical knowledge.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution – Provide technical support and troubleshooting of ESRI system incidents. Has lateral thinking capability to dissect a problem into its component parts to identify and diagnose root causes, allowing problem resolution. Able to troubleshoot and identify problems across different technology capabilities including compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open-source packages and solutions, virtual and cloud including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.
  • DevOps\Automation – Has a diverse set of technical expertise; including DevOps tooling, troubleshooting and debug skills, cloud computing, coding/scripting (python), and infrastructure engineering to provide outstanding customer experiences. Beyond technical qualification, resource will also have a healthy combination of cross-group collaboration skills, communication, and relationship building skills.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience: 6 years relevant experience with ESRI ArcGIS System Administration

Preferred:
  • ESRI – Enterprise Administration Professional
  • ESRI – Enterprise Geodata Management Professional
  • ESRI – Enterprise System Design Professional

Competencies/Skills:
  • Advanced working knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise Systems Administration including implementation & management in an enterprise environment, along with troubleshooting skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Python scripting for ArcGIS deployment and maintenance.

Preferred Knowledge:
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Windows client and server operating systems; their implementation & management in an enterprise environment, along with troubleshooting skills.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Citrix family of hosting and publishing technologies; including XenApp, XenDesktop, and Citrix Cloud.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Estate management & software deployment technologies, including Microsoft Software Center Configuration Manager and Microsoft Application Virtualization.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Active Directory and associated technologies; implementation & management in an enterprise environment.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Cyber Security principles & practices, with experience of working in regulated environment.

Work Environment:
  • Will require off hour maintenance on production systems.
  • In Office or Hybrid (Office & Home) working is preferred.
  • May require limited travel (1-4 times per year)
