The position requires an in-depth understanding of the architectural principles and best practices to build scalable Data and BI products. The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, operationalizing, securing, and monitoring data processing systems. There is an emphasis on security, compliance, scalability/efficiency and reliability. The Data Engineer should also be able to leverage, deploy, and continuously train pre-existing machine learning models.

ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain data pipelines end-to-endReview application development designs and collaborate on domain-specific architectural solutionsAssist management in making strategic decisions regarding software and hardware use; participate in early stages of large project development to ensure consistent approaches in technical designs across projects / programsApprove, review, and own process of delivery plans for all application business solutionsMaintain and monitor adherence to architecture, design, and coding principlesResearch and recommend continuous improvement solutions where technology can be better used within overall systems environmentsProvide thought leadership and champion for software development best practicesParticipate in staffing plans to identify subject matter experts (SMEs) and provide feedback for staff performance reviewsOwn application(s) within area, including proactive monitoring and communication of overall health and future sustainabilityOther duties as assigned

Minimum QualificationsBachelors degree in Computer Science or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience; High School Diploma or GED equivalent required3 years of experience in cloud platform technologies preferably Google Cloud Platform, but other cloud platform experience would suffice.8 years of extensive technical experience in variety of application development or package software implementations (i.e. building/maintaining data pipelines in cloud environments like Google Cloud Platform, Azure or AWS)Proven experience of ongoing education in regard to technology trends within software development and supportProven experience with multiple development and support methodologies (Agile, DevOps, Waterfall)Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship

Additional QualificationsAbility to identify challenge with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process and drive continuous improvement through CI/CD and/or Dev Ops experienceExcellent written, technical, and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage work direction and lead, influence, mentor, and provide feedback to others within teamEstablished presenter of technical and non-technical material adapted to the respective audienceAbility to transition abstract concepts into comprehensive technical solutionsStrong problem-solving and business analysis skillsStrong traits of decisiveness and judgmentExcellent documentation skills

Preferred QualificationsExperience with Big Data Platforms such as: Google, AWS, Azure, Streaming services, Spark/ScalaPast experience in building Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and Data Marts/ODSsIdeal candidate would have past experience in Teradata or Oracles Exadata before transitioning to the Bigdata and cloud native productsCertification(s) on one or more of the above platformsExperience working in environment with regulatory compliance requirements (HIPAA, PCI, etc.)Previous experience in PBM / health care industry
