Our client is seeking a Strategic Project Manager to join a Consumer Solutions PMO team on a contract basis to run strategic projects to drive revenue and reduce costs. Specific projects could include firmware software development, third-party software deployments, process improvements initiatives and IoT product enhancements. You will plan, direct and coordinate project activities to ensure project goals are accomplished within the approved Scope, Schedule, and Budget. As part of our Consumer Product division, this role will interact with both Business Units teams and Division teams.

Duration: 12 months

Locations: Cary, NC / Golden Valley, MN / Moorpark, CA / Remote

Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional project team with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Scope control, schedule updates, budget tracking, and risk management throughout the life of the project.
  • Develop project plans (with various scenarios) identifying scheduled milestones, dependencies, critical path deliverables, risks, and contingency plans for all project deliverables.
  • Chair regular project meetings. Maintains meeting notes and tracks action items.
  • Continuously gather feedback from all project team members and stakeholders to track progress.
  • Manage resources to agreed commitments and hold teams accountable to critical path execution.
  • Work collaboratively with other company global design centers, manufacturing plants, and strategic suppliers as needed.
  • Remain acutely aware of project risks. Guide team to proactively develop mitigation plans. Escalate to leadership early to facilitate mitigation before they impact the critical path.
  • Prepare project status reports and keeps management and other stakeholders informed of project progress. Escalating needs, risks, and issues when appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation including documenting lessons learned.
  • Responsibilities may require in person project oversight and/or collaboration with suppliers, Consultants, and/or other company global facilities. Therefore, domestic and international travel may be required according to business needs (up to 40% travel).

Qualifications:

  • A four-year degree. Background in Engineering, Software Development or IoT product launches.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business / industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Management.
  • Experience working with offshore resources.
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and organizationally agile individual preferred.
  • Knowledge of waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • PMP and/or Agile certifications.
