Job Summary: The Chief Process Engineer is responsible for managing the activities of the Process Engineering group and serves as a site process engineering expert. The Process Engineering team provides process technical support to the Yazoo City Complex to ensure that production units operate in the most safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant manner possible. The Chief Process Engineer will ensure that the group's work complies with good engineering practices and meets the needs of stakeholders, as well as providing opportunities for continuous professional development of the Process Engineering team. Consistent and clear communication with other Engineering disciplines, EHS, Operations, and Maintenance is required to define and prioritize work and properly allocate resources. Job Description:- Manage the daily activities of the Process Engineering group, consisting of three Process Engineers to support operating areas, storage and loading facilities, and general off-sites areas. Responsible for the performance and development of these employees.
- Ensure the Process Engineering Group properly identifies and monitors operating unit KPIs on a routine basis and use resources to work with Operations and Maintenance to resolve deficiencies identified.
- Support CF Industries' corporate goals to improve inclusiveness and diversity within the organization, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, continuous improvement of workforce safety, and increased engagement with the local community.
- Ensure that process engineering evaluations of catalyst and equipment performance and the resulting recommendations (particularly prior to turnarounds) are completed on a timely basis and are technically sound and economically justified.
- Assign resources to assist Operations, Maintenance, and the other engineering disciplines in resolving technical problems.
- Monitor process engineering work on developing and approved capital projects and provide detailed technical guidance when required to ensure successful project implementation (quality, time, and cost).
- Monitor resolution of action items generated by PHA studies, audits, Operating Standards, etc. to ensure responses are technically acceptable and provided in a timely manner.
- Identify opportunities for improvement to process safety, environmental performance, plant efficiency, or production rate and develop project scopes and detailed justifications to obtain approval for project implementation.
- Continually communicate with site management to understand priorities and communicate hurdles to achieving site goals.
- Identify and develop Process Engineering talent to improve group technical competency and work product.
- Support other CF operating facilities and corporate initiatives to improve company-wide design and operating practices and provide technical support as needed.
- BS degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university is required (Chemical Engineering preferred).
- Ten or more years of engineering experience in the oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing industry is required.
- Three years or more of experience designing and/or supporting operation of ammonia, urea, nitric acid, and/or UAN facilities is preferred.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) are required. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel at all levels in the organization and clearly document project scopes and justifications in writing.
