The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the availability of the Intelligent Electronic Device Management System (IEDMS) and the associated databases. The IEDMS system provides remote access and password management to Distribution Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) which accumulate telemetry information for the energy management real-time system. This includes working with the appropriate business units to resolve network communication issues from Distribution IEDs back to specific real-time systems.JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technical support for the Intelligent Electronic Device Management System (IEDMS) and database used for remote access management of Distribution Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) connected to the Distribution infrastructure.

Perform and support password management of Distribution IEDs, including reclosers, line sensors, voltage regulators, cap bank controllers, network protectors, etc.

Troubleshooting IED configurations and assist the SCADA Teams during commissioning activities of Distribution IEDs.

Troubleshooting network communications from Distribution IEDs to real-time systems; including break / fix activities and interfacing with vendors.

Support the design, development and testing of new Distribution IED equipment, real-time applications, technologies, and enhancements.

Provide operational support, ensuring production systems and IEDs are online and available; this includes on-call support during non-business hours.

Participate and assist with audits, process improvements and corrective actions associated with the business units and customers supported by OT Substation Services.

Effectively collaborate with teammates in a virtual environment to provide project support, receive training, provide training, and project collaboration.

Drive Continuous Improvement activities by developing applications, scripts, and database queries.

Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.

Develop and provide training to end users on assigned systems.

Provide support and services for issues received via Service NOW tickets.

Analyze user processes and requirements to identify potential improvements.

Define and adhere to company processes and procedures used to comply with industry standards.

Participate in the team’s 24x7 on-call rotation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Minimum education required of the position .

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, and Industrial) preferred or equivalent work experience.

Desired: Electrical or Computer Engineering Degree.

Minimum experience required of the position

IT Consultant: 6+ years of relevant technical experience.

Experience with the design, development, and/or testing of real-time systems.

Experience with configuration and patch management processes.

Experience with developing application and/or shell scripts

Experience with the SQL and REST API queries

Proven track record of relevant technology delivery.

Proven track record of understanding business unit objectives and supporting their needs.

Experience with an IT ticketing system, e.g., Service NOW.

Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Tools.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

Ability to support real-time systems.

Knowledge of Distribution or Transmission Equipment.

Knowledge of Distribution or Transmission IED configurations.

Knowledge of IED communication protocols including DNP, 8979, SEL FM, etc.

Knowledge of access points, routers, firewall rules, network ports and services.

Knowledge of the OSI Model.

Knowledge of the operation of the electric power grid and/or generation systems.
